Moss and Lichen in the Canadian Rockies

Well the snow and temperatures this time of year are sure varied a lot, where last weekend in central Kananaskis, I encountered about a foot of snow at elevation, but still had warm weather and great photos.

Yesterday, I went up Junction Hill near Cataract Creek and captured a bunch of photos of the very cool moss and lichen colors. After the trees loose these leaves and the temperatures drop, the lichen usually colors up a lot until they get completely covered in snow.

I'm no lichen expert, but I think most of these are known as wolf lichen (Letharia vulpina) and they vary in color.
