Photo Hunt Contest #11 -Birds: meet Jacana

Great contest choice! And my entry was taken while doing a canoe tour in Tortuguero, a National Park in Costa Rica. If it weren't for the guide's keen eye, this cutie could go unnoticed!

Northern Jacana / Jacana (PT) - Jacana spinosa

Jacanas are found on wetlands, and their feet are adapted to walk on floating vegetation, while they search for food. Not that with these bright colors, that make them easy to identify, they can blend in with the green... but it is hard to spot them among all the vegetation. As with most bird observations, a little bit of patience, experienced eyes, and a little bit of luck help a lot! :)
