To Leave A Dying World - Birthday Post

IMG_20171019_191644.jpg

I dream each night
Of how the stars look from home
But still I roam
But still I roam

Behold! That
Distant shining sun
Where life begun
Where life begun

Watch for her flicker
Where home passes by
Across the sky
Across the sky

That life we left
Drifts further away
Each passing day
Each passing day

Those we loved
Linger there no more
In our hearts they roar
In our hearts they roar

The bluest blue
Oh slowly fades to black
No turning back
No turning back

Our hearts echo
Of oceans left behind
But in our mind
But in our mind

Yet here we are
Lost but still alive
We will survive
We will survive

And so we go on
To places still unknown
And dream of home
And dream of home

Today is my birthday!! To celebrate, I wanted to share one of my favourites out of the poems I have written this year. This poem inspired me to paint this plate with the vast expanse of space, and a single rocket, looking for a new home. It seemed very fitting to celebrate another successful orbit of the sun on this wonderful planet, by sharing a poem about those who have had to leave both. This poem is really a song, but I am not brave enough to sing it to you I am afraid, hopefully one day I will be brave enough to sing it to someone else, so they can sing it for you. Like many of my favourite poems, this was mainly written in those twilight moments, before sleeping and after waking, when words pour forth without conscious thought. That said, it wouldn't be fair not to mention the anime Knights of Sidonia, which i had watched previously, that I feel definitely helped shape this song in my subconscious, inspiring me to dream of seed ships, scattered far from the world that could no longer sustain them.

Thank you very much for stopping by - your support is sincerely appreciated, one of the best gifts I have had this year is this fantastic platform, and the support I have found here, that has inspired me to write and share like never before.

Much love and birthday magic - Calluna
