The Venomous Kiss that Broke Toledo [An allegorical original poem alluding to the plights of Love.]

Shadow Angel,
How sweet your aroma;
Alluring poison -
On your breath.
Quietly,
You swept past -
The walls of Toledo.

Therein,
You sought out -
Shelter from the rain;
A familiar face,
With eyes wide shut -
And a warm embrace.
Shadow Angel,
You found shelter -
Beyond the walls of Toledo.

The sentinels -
Moved unsuspecting;
With eyes -
On the horizon,
Outside the walls of Toledo.

With lips upon the ground,
Your kiss of blight -
Took its toll;
As we watched,
The venom dispersed.
All the King's Lavender -
Withered, none withstanding,
Within the walls of Toledo.

Upon the bed -
Of which you lay,
Surrounded by -
Death and decay.
You readied your wings,
As health returned;
Leaving behind -
The City you burned.

Losing count of Moons -
As the City restored,
Your poison has left our grounds;
You control us no more.
