The one who smiles the most,
Is the one who goes through the most pain,
This was said by some wise anonymous person,
And I know it's no lie,
I've been there,
Trying to cover up all my pains,
With a smile which appears to be real,
Some days my mood is so down and damp,
The smile refuses to appear,
No matter how hard I try to plaster it,
Nature whispers to me through the winds,
"Hey babe how long will you hide your pains with a smile?"
It tells me, "sweetie you've gotta be real,
Be yourself, don't be afraid to face your pain,
You've got all you need to do that,
You're a masterpiece,
One that can't be found anywhere else,
So rise up and fight your pains",
But no matter how hard I seem to try,
My fake smile still covers my pain,
Behind my smile is a hurting heart,
Behind my laugh, I'm falling apart,
Look closely at me and you will see,
The girl I am isn't me.
P.S- This poem is dedicated to a friend. I hope she's able to overcome her pains and move on.
