[HAIKU CONTEST] And the Winner is...

First of all I want to thank everyone that participated. I was surprised by the amount of Haiku's submitted, but maybe even more surprised by the high quality, which made it extremely hard to settle on a winner. Let's begin with some of my favorites, the runner ups if you will. Each runner up will be rewarded 1 Steem Dollar.

First some nearly perfect traditional style Haiku's

@isteemit
Deserted land: dry
trees without leaves face the sky,
In clouds, sun disguise.

@xanoxt
Endless road stretches
It runs towards horizon
Sun beats down on me

@cathi-xx
Impossible shine
Coal black fur reflecting blue
Each strand a rainbow

This one was oh so close to being the winner

@libertarianarts
Avocado leaf
Droops downward delaying the
Inevitable

This one manages to frame a moment and put you right in the middle of it

@matthewtiii
Girls dressed in school clothes
Shivering cold morning dew
Shoes are on wrong feet

And some managed to capture the worst aspects of human condition

@inphiknit
War, newborn creature
Peace weaning the hungry child,
Modifying self

@pollux.one
Summer of warfare
Pointing out the differences!
So much uselessness.

On a lighter note, this one produced the greatest laughter (in a good sense)

@papa-pepper
Poetic pasta
Linguistic as linguini
No-nonsense noodles

And then we had a few ambiguous and more philosophical Haiku's

@greatdabu
these thoughts we're thinking
exist in some dimension
real as rocks and trees

But I finally decided on this one by @prufarchy

There is mystery
in the questions and answers
that we never ask

Congratulations to @prufarchy then! "Clear Light" by Alan Spence will soon reach your mailbox!
