Little Reminders, Big... 🌀 (An Original for PoetrySlamChallenge #10)

Mind descending,

Eyes pretending,

Ears denying,

Nose defying,

Tongue maligning,

Trunk desiring,

Hands contending,

Glands demanding,

Feet just standing…

Unlimited potential, though again do I choose,

With this vehicle I’ve got, to barely make use.

Time carries forward, but I’ve noticed it all now,

One desire at a time to change, let’s examine how…

If I learn for myself, can I study for you?

Is my favourite meal, mom’s gift to me too?

When I see an ambulance, notice what do I think,

Do I care about time, or the man on the brink?

Does taking a rest, have to be just for myself,

Or does it make me my best, so that I can be of help?

Is her beauty before me, only to bring out my lust,

Or does it remind me to thank You, for giving Your trust?

Going to work for my money, is my usual way,

But if I do it for family, does it gladden my day?

When I make any action, do I go through the motions,

Or do I really feel what I’m doing, with total devotion?

If I setup these rules, not to nullify, but flip each desire in my life,

Will they have me happy, aware, and doing what’s right?!
