The latest news are in, and Trump wants $25 billion for the border wall with Mexico in exchange for granting citizenship to “Dreamers”, those protected under the DACA program (more on that below). Most people are happy to let their bad ideas die away quietly in the forgotten waste bins of history.
But not Trump. Because Trump doesn't get bad ideas. Trump only gets great ones.
The focus on Trump's wall started dying away after Trump's election as we moved on to more important things and most people allowed to think that he was maybe just joking. Republicans themselves tried to shift focus away from the wall.
But just when we thought we could turn the page on that, it's in the media again.
Because Trump's "big beautiful" wall is more important to him than you think. So there might be one after all.

What's DACA? Who are these Dreamers?
Meet them in this interview by the New York Times:
In September 2017, Trump announced that he planned to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program created under Barack Obama. The federal program grants illegal immigrants who were brought into the United States illegally as children protections from deportation and the right to live, study, and work in the US. These people are known as “Dreamers” and, without new legislation, they will lose their temporary status by 5 March 2020.
The Democrats are facing intense pressure from their own side to get legislation protecting these Dreamers passed. Some of them are even pissed that the Democrats haven't been tough enough by backing away from their threat to keep the government closed unless this is passed.
So Trump is effectively holding thousands of people hostage to get that darn wall built.
Meanwhile, the American nation is getting increasingly divided along partisan lines and those at risk of deportation live in fear of the future and are unable to pursue their dreams.
It looks like we might get the wall after all unless the "Trump whisperer" John Kelly, can stop him. Otherwise, let's hope it at least looks as nice as the Great Wall of China.
