Love
I will not bore you with an explanation of what Love is, as with life experience I realize that Love has so many meanings and is interpreted by its beholder. Instead, I will share with you what I have learned about spreading positivity with Love.
The Beginning
It was not easy learning to love or be loved. I was an only child from a young single mother. A mother that was not freely giving of her love, and a father that did not stick around for very long. It took many years to realize what love truly is, learn how to accept love, and then be able to give love without wanting anything in return. All of these lessons are not easy ones and there was a lot of heartache along the way.
The Bible
At a very young age I became a student of the Bible and ordained minister. Some may cringe by mentioning the Bible, however, I found that after reading it seven times that I found a clue as to how love exists and what happens when love is used properly. My favorite scripture says it perfectly. 1 Corinthians Chapter 13:1-13.
1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Learning to Give
Along with years of being a student of the Bible and volunteering either through March of Dimes as a child, being a Bible teacher and later on as a Rape Crisis Counselor in the emergency room that I learned it was only through giving was I truly happy. Over the years, I have incorporated other belief systems that include gods, goddesses, enlightened teachers and more. By imparting positivity with giving Love was the lesson that prepared me for what came next. It was only through giving, was I also receiving so much more in return.
Forgiveness
Many people can give freely but something is lacking. It is only with forgiveness of others and one-Self can spreading positivity with Love work in unity. With my own experience it took many years to learn to forgive. I had to forgive everyone for things I thought I had missed in life. For instance, forgiving my mother was a huge obstacle, and then to forgive myself for making natural human mistakes. This of course is just a part of being human. The reality is that we are all imperfect and will always make mistakes. It was not until I reached this point that I was truly able to say that I could give 100 percent. All of these building blocks of life lessons prepared me for the work I am about to share with you.
Positivity and Reiki
It was much later on that I I learned about Reiki and how this newfound power of Love would help others. If you have never heard of Reiki, I would encourage a quick Google search to aid in a brief understanding. (I will discuss more on this topic on a later post.) It was through this energy work that I connected with my soul Being and acknowledged the beginning of my life purpose. I have never charged for the work that I do, and I give on a daily basis. After my move to Colorado I became involved in a volunteer program as a provider that gives Reiki to those with Cancer. Three months of complimentary treatments are given to those undergoing chemotherapy, surgery, and various other procedures.
In addition, my mother has Stage 4 renal failure, so I send distance Reiki treatments to her on a weekly basis. My mother almost did not make it, as her renal levels were so low and we were not sure if Reiki would work. After consistent Reiki treatments for four weeks her renal levels maintained a healthy balance and she has been in remission for nearly two years.
It was only through life lessons am I able to give as I do and spread positivity with Love. It is Powerful. Peace.
