I met him in Sawa Erma, Asmat District, in remote region of Papua.
He is young and friendly. He always smile but speak little. He is Asmat warrior, a brave one. Every man in his village is warrior. He brings bow and arrow, traditional weapon in his tribe.
He has wild boar fangs as necklace and tree bark as headband. Actually he brings a woven bag where he puts all important stuffs. He puts his bag on his back. Look at his neck. That is bag handle rope.
He is Indonesian and speaks bahasa Indonesia. So he is still my brother. He speaks little but sings aloud. I quote one of Papua poetic song:)1
nomo ira fiwa dera
forabi’ae
nomo ira furabo dera
foramaibi’ae
nomo kosa’a buru ga merabe
kigiboba’a
nomo ira furubu ga merabe
aodoboba’a
My fiwa tree there
Has fallen by itself
My furabo tree there
Has fallen down
My harbour near the base of the kosa’a buru tree
The forest has reclaimed it
My harbour near the base of the furubu tree
The bush has obliterated it
