Habe ich schon mal erwähnt, dass ich es liebe im Botanischen Garten fotografieren zu gehen?
Irgendwie mache ich es dann aber doch immer viel zu selten.... Um das zu ändern, möchte ich diese Serie "Was blüht denn da?" starten. Vor allem als Motivation für mich, dem Botanischen Garten regelmäßig einen Besuch abzustatten aber auch, um meine Fotografieskills weiter zu verbessern.
Ich finde es immer total spannend zu entdecken, was es so alles an Pflanzen gibt und wie sich die Blütenpracht über das Jahr hin verändert.

But somehow I always do it far too rarely..... To change that, I would like to start this series "What's that flower"? Above all as motivation for me to visit the Botanical Garden regularly but also to further improve my photographic skills.
I always find it totally exciting to discover what kind of plants there are and how the splendour of flowers changes over the year.
Essbare Prärielilie (Camassia quamash) / Camas
Meist nehme ich immer den gleichen Weg durch den Botanischen Garten. Heute habe ich mich aber bewusst mal dazu entschieden, in den Teil zu gehen, den ich sonst eher selten besuche. Ich entdeckte viele schöne Blüten unter anderem diese Prärielilie auf einer Wiese.
Vorkommen: im westlichen Nordamerika auf feuchten Wäldern, Wiesen und an Ufern; in Höhenlagen bis zu über 3000 m zu finden
Aussehen: sternförmige hellblaue bis tiefblaue Blüten, radialsymmetrisch mit 6 Blütenblättern
Warum essbar? Die Zwiebeln dienten den Indianern der Westküste zur Ernährung. Sie können roh gegessen werden aber auch getrocknet, gedünstet und gekocht werden.
Usually I take the same route through the Botanical Garden. Today, however, I deliberately decided to go to the part that I rarely visit otherwise. I discovered many beautiful flowers, including this prairie lily on a meadow.
Distribution: in western North America on humid forests, meadows and shores; at altitudes of up to 3000 m
Appearance: star-shaped pale blue to deep blue flowers, radial symmetric with 6 petals
Why eatable? The onions were used to feed the Indians of the West Coast. They can be eaten raw or dried, steamed and cooked.
