Cartagena de Indias: Walking through the Walled City.

Today I want to talk to you about Cartagena de Indias, a city in northern Colombia founded in 1533 by the Spaniards during the colonial era. At that time, the city was constantly besieged by pirates, which is why large fortifications were built and the city was surrounded with a great wall in order to protect it from the constant fighting between Spanish forces and pirates.

Both the walled city and the castles and forts are maintained today in an excellent state of preservation and are located in what is known as the Historic Downtown of Cartagena. The historic Downtown is an excellent place for tourism, where you can find small and large shops, hotels, all kinds of restaurants and cultural events among other things. The Historic Downtown of Cartagena is visited by thousands of national and foreign tourists throughout the year.

Today I want to show you through my photos, the visual experience you can have when visiting Cartagena and its Historical Downtown, it is possible that after you see these images you will be encouraged and your next vacation will be in Cartagena de Indias.
