~ 92 ~ Walk With Me Around the Homestead and to the Little 'Island'

Would you just look at the gorgeous colouration of Peter Parker!

Grey, black, orange, yellow, blue even little red dots in the middle of his wing. He is a spectacular rooster. Tiny, very mild mannered.

A few of you may remember in the summer he almost died when he was a chick. Somehow he got himself stuck between a tree and the compost bin and spent an entire night outside the coop, he was discovered the next day by Eddie. He lived in our home for about a week until he started jumping out of his box.

He was very shy when first introduced back into his flock, but now is getting very manly. He is mating and finally the other morning he tried to crow. A real come back kid!

The Punisher

IMG_4462.JPG

Formerly known as "The Biter" but adopted by @cognoscere and named aptly The Punisher, she weighs in at a whopping 10 lbs. Ok, I don't actually know how much she weighs :).

She has a favourite pastime of biting @hendrix22's head when he goes in the coop to 'put the chickens to bed'. D'awwww...poor B. She also is a queen among the hens even though she is young, no one messes with her.

Let's Go to the Little Island

Before you get too excited, it's only an island at high tide. During medium and low tide you can walk across, especially easy in the winter with the ground nice and firm. It gets pretty suctiony and gross walking out there in the spring and summer, my boot and sandals have come off a few times going to the 'island'.

It was a very cold day, the windchill was a biting -15 Celsius, yet warm in the sun when the wind would die down a bit. The cove has a frozen layer again, but it's all good I'm not sad, I checked our weather forecast and it's going back to temperatures of +5 to 0 Celsius for the next couple weeks. More melting mini icebergs, yay!

I have no clue how that seaweed got on that rock, I should have zoomed out, it's a pretty tall rock lol :) Must have been from one of the storms, or maybe a gull carried it there.

Another big ass rock.

The Elven or Fae Cave

I'm uncertain who lives there because we haven't met yet.

Smart Chickens Putting Themselves to Bed

Chickens are very reliable and responsible animals. They will always put themselves to bed before dark, and these older, wiser chickens here go to bed even earlier. They never stray far from their coop. They always stay away from the road. I definitely vouch for chickens as companions.

It's so hard to get a good shot when they're up on their roosts, but I had to show you dear Mr. Pendock, even though it's not very clear. He sends his fondest regards to you, his loving Steem family, or is it his Steem loving family? HAHA :) :) Either way you catch my drift. Pendock loves you and so do I.
