This did start out as a happy post!! Brian and Lynn <3

What's this? Helmets? Smiling faces?

When we first arrived in Mexico, back in May 2017 (Yikes! time really does fly by!), we bought these two beauties second hand, because we decided the exercise would be great for both of us, and we didn't want to spend a fortune on taxis everyday.

But as you know, Brian has been getting more and more tired, and we were finding that either by walking or riding our bikes, he was exhausted by the time we arrived at any destination. So we'd bike or walk to a restaurant, sit down, and more often than not, have to get our food to go because he just couldn't sit there any longer.

Our friend was upgrading his scooter to a real motorcycle, so TA-DAAA, look what we bought! A scooter :)

It's not that big, has gears, is a bit beat up in spots, but is the perfect size for us! It's 100cc (most scooters are 50cc), and goes up to 100 km (60mph) which is way faster than we're going to do with it haha, although we have had it on the highway and it keeps up just fine with the flow of traffic.

The very best part about it is that we can actually go places and Brian's not exhausted by our arrival. The first time on it, he was smiling and said, "I feel alive again" !! That is worth more than anything money can buy <3

OK, so notice my title, This did start out as a happy post! I know, I can hear a big collective sigh going on out there. When I was looking through my photos to find one of our bikes, I found this of Brian, the day we bought the bikes. I remember because we were all excited and went out for a beer haha. Beautiful and so healthy looking. Brian and I sat and stared at it, stunned really because when you see a person day to day you really don't realize the 'deterioration' going on.

Here's a picture from yesterday. Yep, still a beer in hand :), but he's holding it weird because our glass mugs are getting too heavy for him to hold it 'naturally'. We both thought he was looking tanned and healthy still, until we compared these two photos today. And yes, it made us both terribly sad. I still think he's beautiful, but Brian sure doesn't think so. I can however see the forced smile, the added lines on his face from being in constant pain, the dark circles and the overall grey-ish color going on. He rarely smiles "big" anymore (because of all the broken teeth he has as result of the Prednisone he takes daily) and says he hates the look of it.

We're both still a little speechless from it all.

Sorry guys! I know many of you will read this and think, How am I supposed to comment on this one? Nice bike, too bad Brian's doing so shitty?

Don't worry; just send your love and kind thoughts ... it's what we both could use today.
