📷 An Eye For An Eye - #MacroPhotography #SuperMacro

I shot this focus-stacked image of the compound eyes of an insect (I can't remember what it was), but it was either dead or hibernating because I was able to take many shots of it to create this image.

An Eye For An Eye

Focus-stacked from a couple of shots.

To achieve such a high magnification, I attached a 18-55mm lens in reverse to a 100mm macro lens. The result is that the 18-55mm becomes essentially like a magnifying glass, offering 5.56X magnification at 18mm and just under 2X at 55mm.

Equipment Used

  • Camera: Canon EOS 450D
  • Lens: Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 + Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
  • Software: Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop
