Steem has been attracting users by its “earning crypto by creating content”. Since 2016 , In the short period of 3 years, a large number of apps, tools, sites and communities have been developed based on this chain. While we are enjoying the benefits it has brought to us, we tend to overlook the people who work hard behind scenes. Because of the passion and efforts of these dedicators, Steem is getting to be known by more and more people and is showing a promising future.
To help new users better know Steem and CN community, WhereIN has hosted the first issue of "10 Questions".
Now let’s welcome our guest @ericet, the founder of team-cn、cn-curation、cn-activity、teamcn-shop and cn-voice.
Hopefully the following Q&A would benefit readers in further understanding Steem and CN community:
-------------------------------------------------Start-------------------------------------------------
iguazi123:Hey @ericet, say hi to everyone please!
ericet:Hi~
iguazi123: So let’s begin!
Q1: I believe most of us have known @ericet very well, and he will introduce himself before our 10 questions.
ericet:
>Hi everyone, I’m ericet and members of CN community called me “cun zhang“(Captain of team-cn). I’m just a programmer from United States.
iguazi123:Haha, it’s a dialogue across the Pacific Ocean. Can you tell us about your hobby and how you got your nickname Village Head/Village Long (Long means Chinese dragon)?
ericet:
>Before got into cryptocurrency/blockchain world, I used to churning (a term to take advantage of credit cards open bonus). After entered cryptocurrency/blockchain world, l spent my free time to learn many new terms and technologies. Also I like to write some bots on steem, like teamcn-shop.
>When we first started @team-cn, @aellly started call me cun zhang(village head), since in Chinese zhang(head) is the same word as the chang(long), so my nickname became “cun long”, then long in Chinese also means dragon, so at the end, my nickname became “cun dragon”.
iguazi123:I heard that someone made a cartoon image for you. Can you show it to us?
ericet:
>@pgr draw this picture for me then @kidsreturn added the colors.
Q2: We know that @ericet, @honoru and @softmetal started @team-cn, and ever since then it has played a vital role in helping CN newbies. Can you share the founding process of @team-cn? Are there any unforgettable moments along the way? What has been motivating you to keep on going?
ericet:
>At first, @honoru started a new tag #cn-interview, the purpose of this tag is to interview newbies. I think it’s a great initiative, so I contacted @honoru and made a more thoughtful plan which will benefit more people. We created @team-cn mainly focus newbies.
>On the way to help newbies, we created and supported many projects to help newbies to get better:
>* @cn-curation, a curation project within CN community, which aims to find undervalued posts daily. Selected posts are upvoted by @team-cn, @htliao, @cn-malaysia, @cnstm, @cnbuddy, @deanliu and their many trails. The authors are also rewarded with 1 SBI.
* @cn-activity, a project which aims to summarize the contests within the steem community daily. It helps many members to participate many contests.
* #teamcn-homework, assigns varies of tasks to help newbies know steem better. Those who complete these tasks every week are getting rewarded.
* @cn-voice, a project which hosts song singing/storytelling contest weekly.
* NBC(Newbie Coin), a token to reward authors who write quality posts, and members who put their efforts on the platform
* 24/7 365 days Wechat group, since discord is banned in mainland China. We use Wechat group to communicate with members and answer any question they might have.
* Many fun projects like team-cn snack shop @teamcn-shop, Newbies Graduation Ceremony, and Auto Upvote Service for Members, etc
>@team-cn is a non-profit project which mainly focus on people/community.
>There are many things touch me the most, for instance, the first team-cn drawing raccoon contest. We were all newbies that time, but we gathered over 37 SBD donations from all our members! Not STEEM keep us stay but the community.
iguazi123: So from the beginning, there were only 3 founders in @team-cn, and the team has been tackling popped up issues and constantly moving forward, just like some communities we know.
ericet:
>Yes, everyone is trying to find a path moving forward. We enjoy the process of discovery.
>Firstly, we meet all fun people from all different part of world.
Secondly, I picked up my programming interest after started my programming job. When an interest becomes a daily duty, I lost the passion. It’s steem makes me start programming again with passion.
iguazi123:This is awesome! When I just joined the Wechat group of @team-cn, there were thousands of messages each day, and to my surprise, they were closely related to Steem users. Can you summarise in one sentence that what attracted the members to have fun in the group?
ericet:
>As @softmetal said, come for the money, stay for the friendship. We enjoy our friendship.
iguazi123:“Come for the money, stay for the friendship.“ That truly makes sense!
Q3: You are an early adopter of Steem. Do you still remember what it’s like when you just joined?
ericet:
>I’m considering my self an old steemian. I’m still a newbie with a little bit over 1 year steem experience. Maybe junior steemian is the term to describe me.
>It’s not a right time for me to join steem. All the whales and delegations left CN community when I first joined. When I made a new post, no upvotes or comments. It’s a really boring time and I almost gave up. I think I made less than 1 steem in my first 3 months.
iguazi123:Lots of newbies have gone through this – not getting noticed at first, while turning better and better since a certain moment. Did you experience a critical point like this too? What happened then?
ericet:
>I met @softmetal and @honoru when I almost gave up this platform. Then we started study all kind of rules about steem.
iguazi123:Now you are accompanied along the way. Let’s give a big round of applause for the 3 musketeers!
ericet:
>Knowing the rules help you know the community better. So I recommend newbies read the CN steem guides before they make their first posts.
This is a great mentality. Can you share the guide to us now?
>I wrote my expriences for newbies: https://busy.org/@ericet/db528bhdn3
>also try to do the #teamcn-homework weekly.
Q4: Steem is about 3 years old now. What type of community is it in your mind? How do new users better fit into the community (have more fun here)? Is there a secret weapon you want to share with us?
ericet:
>STEEM isn't all about bloging or great contents. There are many DApps, steemit just one of them.
>If you like gaming, try out steemmonsters, drugwars, nextcolony, cache(Soon will come to STEEM)
>If you are an artist, like to draw, sing, take photo, etc, try out ntopaz
>If you enjoy sharing food, restaurant, etc, try out tasteem
>If you share what you are feeling today, try out wherein, partiko, esteem
>If you like to travel, try out tripsteem
>There are many DApps, just try to find one that's best fit for you.
>Also there any many simple contests that just simply giving out rewards.
>You can follow @cn-activity to know about all kind of contests.
>Overall, STEEM is a social place where you can meet many people. It's not purely about writing great contents.
Q5: As a programmer, what’s your daily routine like? We are pretty curious that how come you’ve got so much time to answer questions and to find information for team-cn members.
ericet:
>I have an easy job, just write programs and debug. My previous job is in an investment bank, great pressure there. If I keep my job, I will have no time to join STEEM. After I have a kid, I want to give my family more time, so I quitted my job and found one with less presure and closer to my house job.
Q6: Recently SCOT and Steem-engine have done a lot for the community. What’s your opinion on it? How will it affect the community?
ericet:
>Steem-engine makes everyone can issue their own tokens and have platform setup just few clicks. It's really great! If you are a great movie/video reviewer, you can have a platform for movie/video reviews. Artists will have a platform, singers will have a platform. It will be easier for newbies。
>But SCOT is on STEEM layer 2, so there are some issues with it. Also if in the future, steemit inc released the SMT, what's SCOT going to do with.
>But SCOT gives some pressure to the steemit inc and make them move to a rapid development state.
iguazi123:That’s true. It has caused some impact to Steem, like dropping a pebble into a quiet pond.
Q7: You have been guiding us in trying out SCT these days. What’s your opinion on the very popular SCT and WeedCash?
ericet:
>Weedcash is first ScotBot+Nitrous product, it made everyone see the possibility of build their own community and token. But the topics are about weed, so it's hard for people get into the platform. If your post is not about weed, you will be downvoted.
>steemcoinpan(SCT)is second ScotBot+Nitrous product. The founder of SCT was pretty active on weedcash platform, he learned a lot from weedcash, both good and bad. So he knows how to keep SCT active.
>Weedcash isn't a successful product but it gives a good experience to others.
>SCT just released a week, it's a hot trend currently. The founder needs to think about how to keep this hot trending going. It will be a good experience for all.
iguazi123:A concise answer. Our community could learn a lot from the experience of Steemcoinpan and WeedCash.
ericet:
>JJM is going to release it's platform soon, it's about movies/videos review. Don't miss out this opportunity.
Q8: Since you live in the USA, can you tell us about the situation of blockchain there?
ericet:
>Blockchain has many use cases, cryptocurrency just one of them. Recently, I've received many job interviews asking for blockchain background, and the paid is pretty good.
>I haven't watch the crypto price a long time. My collegues and I talked a lot a year ago and now nobody dare to talk. LOL.
iguazi123: They might be more focused in technology. Let’s wish the blockchain technology better and better to eventually reach all the expectations. The next question is about WhereIN. We would like to introduce the unique model and mechanism of Steem into the Chinese communities.
Q9: Do you have any advice for WhereIN? What’s your view on our community?
ericet:
>Try to be on the steemit hot trend once a while. Let people know what you are doing and what is the progress with wherein development.
>Develop wherein power as fast as possible, even it's not perfect, you can slowly improve it.
iguazi123: That’s a great advice. We haven’t posted for a while indeed.
ericet:
>Wherein power will let you have more controls.
iguazi123: Yes, we are also looking forward to WhereINPower, and our team is working hard on it.
Q10: The last question: do you have something to say to yourself and to WhereIN users?
ericet:
>To be short, I hope I will see everyone on this platform one year from now.
iguazi123: I hope so too. This is very important.
-------------------------------------------------End-------------------------------------------------
We firmly believe that Steem has been gaining momentum, and we are looking forward to its mass adoption!

为了帮助进入社区的朋友们更好的了解steem中文社区,WhereIN社区举办了第一期“10问”活动,本次活动我们邀请到了新手村村长ericet(team-cn、cn-curation、cn-activity、teamcn-shop和cn-voice等的建立者)作为我们的活动嘉宾。
大家怀念曾经的小可爱和淘气包,我们搞了“小卖部”;
大家怀念一姐曾经的好声音活动,我们搞了新的“好声音”的活动;
大家怕SBI未来跑路,我们发了属于我们自己的代币Newbies Coin(新手币/牛币)来取代他,并且奖励那些持续为社区做出贡献的人;
你是艺术家,喜欢画画摄影手工,可以用ntopaz;喜欢分享生活可以用wherein,partiko,esteem;喜欢旅游写攻略可以用tripsteem;喜欢美食可以用tasteem;
