THIS POST.
News!
1. Last week's post
So, things went much better with the last post. The rewards were 0.021 STEEM (yup, we're back to the liquid STEEM rewards), 1.675 SBD and 0.708 SP.
This means our balance is now:
@sisou account - 1.675 SBD; 0.0021 STEEM; 1.712 SP
@zpedro account - 0.708 SP
You'll say this is now much. And that's true, it's not much. But I really hope STEEM price goes up again soon and maybe I can trade this for some valuable EURO. Also you kind upvotes will go up and the post payouts will be bigger!
2. Buying in place
A friend of mine also gave me the idea of buying local craftwork and donate to children. This is indeed a good idea, since our money will stay in the country instead of spending that money on things that are manufactured abroad. We'll be bringing money to São Tomé. This will also solve a problem I'm antecipating: luggage overweight. I'm gathering a lot of clothes and things to bring to São Tomé, from family and friends!
3. Other news
Not much is happening right now. Wholesale vendors will take a few weeks to deliver the goods, so I need to estimate in advance how much EURO I'll be able to gather (which in turn depends a lot on the price of STEEM). We're not making much money so I'm just waiting to see, because no wholesale vendor will make me an invoice for 10€'s worth of goods or so. If we don't make a lot of money I'll have to buy stuff in regular retail stores.
São Tomé e Príncipe
Source
There are two big islands in this country. São Tomé (literally St. Thomas) is the biggest one with the capital São Tomé, and a small one named Príncipe (prince). There are many many small paradisiac islands, one of them (Ilhéu das Rolas) is actually crossed by the Equator line. So as you can guess, climate is warm and humid, although as in many of these islands you can experience almost all the seasons in one day.
These deserted islands were found by two portuguese sailors João de Santarém and Pedro Escobar. Portugal then colonized it with New Christians (muslims that were converted to christianism by force or coercion), exiled by the Inquisition, using the place for sugar cane and cocoa, and slave exchanges to Brazil. Although the africans made a lot of rebellions, the place kept under portuguese domain even during the spanish dynasty (1580-1640).
After a Portuguese revolution in 1974 that put end to a 40-year-old dictatorial regime, independence came for many portuguese colonies such as São Tomé e Príncipe, that declared independence in 1975 thanks to a group named "Movement for the Liberation of São Tomé e Príncipe" (MLSTP). The country still has a close bond to Portugal since they import most of the resources from here. Main language is Portuguese and the country is part of the CPLP (Community of Portuguese Language Countries).
