Introducing CAMPUS - A decentralised multi-proof of brain upvoting guild to reward STEEM promoters, educators and humanitarians.

multi-proof-of-brain.png

For the last few weeks, we have been devising and building our promo-steem guild. We have run several scenarios to decide how it should work, some which have led to some really mad ideas (and some brilliant ones too).

We are now in the final stages of testing, and all being well, will very shortly be deploying it to run automated, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

We've decided to call it CAMPUS... An acronym for Community Automated Multi Proof-of-brain Upvoting System

However, it might be someone comes up with a better name for it, and we're open to ideas, so if you think it should be called something else, tell us in the comments!!!

In the next few days, CAMPUS (as it's currently called) is going on-line. We're going to test it, monitor it, and make sure it all works properly and does what it's supposed to do.... then we'll let it loose.

Why have we done this ?

In a conversation we had with @andrachy some months ago, he told us to basically go ahead and do some stuff that would bring new investors, new user and new content in to the ecosystem. You can check out that video here:

We've done this with very little in the wallet. We have had a few notable Steemians who've upvoted and delegated to @steem-ambassador, and we are unbelievably grateful for this. At this stage, I'd give a big note of gratitude to @thejohalfiles, @jerrybanfield, @lukestokes, @andrarchy, @suheri, @transisto @eturnerx and @extremeromance who have all given their support with sizable upvotes and/or delegation, but that's not to take anything away from the smaller accounts who also regularly upvote, comment and support our work (there are simply too many of them to mention here!).

Now we've got pretty much everything in place and are ready to make it happen, in a totally transparent and decentralised way.

There are some brilliant promoters of the blockchain all around the world. Some people are absolutely prolific...it's like they live to tell people about STEEM and why they believe it's the number one blockchain, with the power to do all sorts of positive work in the world.

They are out there, day by day, getting more and more people to look at what the STEEM blockchain is. They spend their time, and sometimes their money, on projects (from the small scale to potentially massive ideas) which are all about getting STEEM seen and understood.

These promoters deserve to be rewarded. As time goes on, they will be one of the major forces that assists the STEEM price to rise through wider adoption. They are, and will continue to, bring in new investment, new users and new content to the platform, and this is in direct line with what @andrarchy asked us to assist with.

And frankly, the big job now is to encourage delegation to @steem-ambassador. And to do that, we really needed to show the community that we had something unique and purposeful.

So we have a network of people out there who are doing great promo-steem posts every day. We have a decentralised and community approved network of curators who are accountable. And now we have a clever guild system that automates that whole process in a transparent way. That's quite a story!

Bringing in delegation into @steem-ambassador, with CAMPUS and the Steem Ambassadors network, will ensure that top quality promoters get rewarded for work that adds real value to the blockchain. And we will be able to track that and prove its effectiveness.

What is CAMPUS ?

Every week, around 500 posts are made using this tag. It's one of the fastest growing tags on the entire platform. And we have spent weeks working out how the hell to create a system which is fully automated, decentralized, and uses multi-proof-of-brain to sort out the really good ones which demonstrate high quality promotional, steem-educational or humanitarian work, all related to growing the good name of the blockchain.

Conceptually, it's about sifting through the spam and rewarding posts which are in themselves high quality. Of course, quality is something which is subjective, so we decided that the right way forward was to create a wide-pool, concensus threshold system.

How does CAMPUS work?

A number of people have put themselves forward to be Steem Ambassadors, and they have been approved by the community. These people have all demonstrated their willingness to be involved in promotional, educational and/or humanitarian work, the three core principles of what #promo-steem is all about.

These Steem Ambassadors have one job... to curate, as they would normally, on the huge numbers of posts tagged #promo-steem. If a minimum number of 3 of them upvote the same post, CAMPUS picks this up, and adds them to a hitlist of queued posts for upvoting by the @steem-ambassador account.

CAMPUS then automatically takes the posts on the hitlist, assigns them an equal share of the available daily voting power, and will then automatically upvote them all when the @steem-ambassador account reaches 99.9% Voting Power. Then it goes to sleep and waits for the voting power to recover the following day when it does it all again, with all the new posts which achieved the threshold of votes in the last 24 hours.

All the upvoted posts will then appear on the @promo-steem account.

Simultaneously, everyone who is on the @steem-ambassador trailing guild then upvotes these posts too (if they haven't done so already!), thus adding more weight from the community to reward great quality #promo-steem posts.

What happens if we increase our delegated STEEM?

If we start to get support (and by support, I'm meaning we get some delegated Steem Power), especially if some comes from some of the bigger wallets on the platform, then our upvote goes from measly to meaty. It means that it becomes purposeful for people to really think about their promotional activities, and present them well, maintaining and upholding a degree of quality.

It means that we have a way of pointing some the daily rewards pool towards high quality promo/educational/humanitarian work, and really incentivising excellence.

And what if suddenly we have half a million (or more...let's not get limited to one number eh?) delegated SP in the account, being used purely to reward great quality, value-creating work? That's a really big deal.

What's happening over the next few days of testing?

We will be communicating with all the Steem Ambassadors, and letting them know that we're in the all systems go stage. All they have to do is curate, with an eye on curating on only high quality #promo-steem posts.

Some folks may notice that the @steem-ambassador account changes its upvoting behaviour. We will be keeping an eye on, and publishing statistics of what the Ambassadors are upvoting, to keep them accountable to the community (as they have all agreed to do).

And we will be encouraging everyone who supports us to go and get the attention of the whales. We've really got something here, and when it's fully deployed, it's success will depend upon getting STEEM behind it.

A personal message of thanks to all the following people who have directly or indirectly (and sometimes without even realising they have) contributed their time, ideas, help and guidance specifically to this technical project, all without any guarantee of reward of upvote. Each one of them gets my everlasting gratitude and thanks.
