On Friday, five of us from the #promo-steem team travelled to the big smoke to speak at the London Investor Show to talk about...STEEMIT.
Ostensibly, we were speaking to folk about the potential of Steemit as an investment case. As well as just promoting the platform, we were also keen to bring new money into the platform, because, well that's the way we are going to raise the price of Steem, which benefits everyone.
We very nearly didn't get there. For some reason, our driver (yes we had a driver....!!!) spent most of the morning doing his hair, and we didn't leave Yorkshire until after 11am (we were speaking at 4pm over 200 miles away!)
But we made it, and what a day it was. Speaking at the event were myself, Stephen Kendal and Matt Starkey of the #promo-steem team.
We had a nice spot at the show, and even met some lovely steemers from London who came to support us, including @molometer, @redrica, @michelle.gent, @allasyummyfood, @nanchev, @planetauto and @s0u1.
Stephen Kendal @stephenkendal, official #promo-steem captain, introducing the talk, and getting passionate about Steemit
@stephenkendal
Matt Starkey @starkerz, UK Steem Supremo (and three-time winner of the Beard of Birmingham Contest) talking about the investment case for Steemit
@starkerz
And of course little old me @anarcotech talking about how the platform works (simply) and introducing the core concept of Steemit and the cryptocurrency Steem.
@anarcotech
We were backed up by the AV dream team of @ashleypeat and @tomasgeorge who filmed, took stills and recorded the audio of the event.

We had a nice Q&A session at the end, and am pleased to report that this went on for about the next 4 hours, as we moved first into the lobby of the Novotel Conference Centre, then to a lovely pub down the road which served excellent beer (for London).
@starkerz and @ashleypeat having a sucking their tums in contest, as @tomasgeorge shows us why he's the king of pickup. With @molometer in the background, come to support us!
The getting home chaos
With only 7 hours to go before @tomasgeorge had to get to the airport to fly to Amsterdam, we had to get back to Leeds, and discovered our car had been locked in by hotel security. An hour later, and one stupid fee for opening a gate, we finally got back on the road, having had nothing to eat for the last 14 hours, and landed back in Yorkshire about 3am.
But what a day. Massive thanks to everyone who came to join us, and look forward to welcoming new Steemians who we met. We had a few guys who literally followed us to the pub and stayed there for hours, talking about Steemit.
Want us to speak somewhere?
If you know of somewhere you would like team #promo-steem to talk, please get in touch. We would be very happy to speak at corporate/university/investor events anywhere in the country (or even abroad possibly).
