This is my promotional activity recap for our successful event last Feb 13, 2018 at Pamintuan Mansion Museum. I created this post for all promoters to have some inspiration in my work. Even a minnow can create a difference
Beginning
The only question I need to answer and probably the hardest is "How do I present Steemit on a local TV station?". The question proved to be harder to answer when I started asking different steemians as they all have different explanations on what is steemit for them. I guess thats also true, steemit meaning is very subjective to each niche.
Why I chose to start my promotion on TV rather than the usual social media promotion?
In my opinion social media in our country (Philippines) is filled with scammers post everyday. All about getting rich online, to bitcoin lending and etc. then you'll hear news about victims of scams almost everyday.
Im not saying I wont do social media, I just thought people will trust steemit more if its presented on Local TV and radio station then Ill do social media.

As a minnow I had so many questions and If Im going to present steemit on TV i need to know everything. In my search for answer I learned few lessons about What not to say when promoting steemit.
Social Media website that one can do anything like in other social medias.
Easy way to get rich in a short amount of time.
Easy to learn.
Need only a little amount of your time.
Not a strict environment.
And most of all will help everyone.
Why I can promote on TV?
I have founded 2 groups with more than 50 members combined and almost a thousand in reach personally. My alma-mater have 10k students. My DTI (department of trade and industry) connection is about 50 members who have small businesses. And I create multiple entertaining events with sponsors as a living.
Im doing this for all the artists in my city and maybe in the future my country. To create a place where their arts and talents are rewarded properly.
How do we plan to promote in our university?
For me the pre-requisite for an effective promotion is trusted promoters thats why I'm confident about promoting in our school cos we can site the help of:
Micro influencers - with the help of my group members who are Student Council officers, Newspaper writer, Radio DJ, Theatre President and known talented artists.
Events - My group have performed inside the school multiple times already with Local artists. Utilizing these established connection we can do it again.
Facebook Seminars - Inviting them on our seminars using our facebook page with hundreds of likes and asking the other facebook pages to do the same, we can do this cos were friends with the admins for a long time.
Mistake you should avoid when promoting
I went to a TV station and radio station to personally talk with their marketing officers but the problem started when I tried explaining the system. What is steemit? How it will help our fellow kapampangan? To answer these question I had to include the explanation of Steem blockchain and cryptocurrency, Im a minnow so Im still pretty much new to the platform and still learning myself, what happened is that we went on and on about the technology and aspects of it with all the other web applications like @dtube @dlive @busy etc. in the end they told they will give me a call and what that meant is they wont.
Dont promote the technology - this might seem wrong to you but imagine if you're someone who dont know blockchain technology (almost everyone) plus the bad reputation of cryptocurrency what's your first reaction? You'd probably think its a scam.
Its free money - looking back I sounded like Im promoting Steemit like its free money, it didnt help either. "Nothing in this world is free" so the moment they sensed something even remotely close to this they will be cynical on the idea and most likely close their minds.

What's next?
Im planning to apply for Steem ambassador and will start my steemit seminars for my invites. As a minnow, I had so many questions compounded with everything I have to learn and follow. Who to talk to, What to join, and ultimately what to post. I believe the first seven days on Steemit is the crucial part of their life here with us.

Contests that they can join this for me is one of the best ways to earn sbd as a minnow.
