Colorful beachouse in Puerto Rico

This is the place that I found on AirBnB, and am staying in for 2 weeks. It could sleep 6 people comfortably. It is plenty spacious for one person. The yard is huge and fenced. I have beach access outside of my gate. There is nobody on the beach but me as I type this. Yesterday was Sunday, and there were some locals around but I still had privacy.

My bedroom is air conditioned, the rest of the place is slightly less warm than outside & I leave the windows open to let the wind flow throughout during the day. At night all of the mosquitos and mimes come out, so I make sure to close the windows to avoid being their tasty snack.

There are a couple of things that don’t work properly, such as one of the windows. But none of those things make the place intolerable whatsoever. I have electricity & WiFi with a strong signal. Running water and safety are also here.

I’d say my least favorite thing about the place is the road that I have to take to get there. With seclusion comes less stability on the roads. It’s about a 15 minute drive off the main road. 10% of that is variable sand/dirt terrain. Not ideal for a Ford Mustang, but I make it work. I just have to drive really slow on that part.

I’m surrounded by the aftermath of devastation. One of my immediate neighbors’ home is completely ruined from Hurricane Maria. My other neighbor is almost finished rebuilding a beautiful mini-mansion. Then next to that in-process home, is a lot full of debris with two mobile homes that must have been put in place of the old houses. This shows the Puerto Rican people’s resilience to never give up and leave their beach front land.
