The Promise of a payout on every post is what made Steemit attractive to everyone, but among Steemians there are some who are striving to make Sure they leave Steemit better than they met it.
Among this awesome group of people is @surpassinggoogle, a steemian who understands what community building is all about, he have been championing a lot of growth ideas and have flagged off two Important projects, Steemgigs and unMEAN sTWEETS.
Ladies and Gentlemen i give you, @surpassinggoogle
...
...
Ogochukwu: Can you tell us your name and where you come from?
Surpassing Google: I am Terry and i from Philippines born in Greece.
Ogochukwu: How did you learn about Steemit and why did you decide to join?
Surpassing Google: The simple truth i have been trying to change how the internet works. I have always been on the internet and over time, i learnt unconventionally how it worked and though an inanimate thing, it was sort of racist.
The internet would instantly tell you to scram off, for being from developing countries and i wanted to change that some how to bring some equality to the internet. Thus, i adopted the name @surpassinggoogle and wrote the model out, for my own social network.
I have always wanted to do something for humanity and one of my desires was to create something that will celebrate people in developing countries and give them a level-playing field as the rest of humanity.
Now since i could not bring my innovation to life just yet, i aimed at keeping this dream alive in dream-bits, thus, i started looking for a home on the internet where i could play my ideas out and watch them even if just in virtual state, to create an illusion that i am being useful. It took time but i eventually found steemit.
Steemit tallied with my model of a social network and has given me the equality and love, non-existent on the entire internet and is enabling my dreams, so that they are now approaching reality.
I learned about steemit during my search for a home on the internet after having been on many social platforms. The last major one before steemit was tsu.co but it was a centralized platform owned by one man and it befell bankruptcy and came to a halt.

Ogochukwu: How do you structure your day around steemit and your other activities?
Surpassing Google: Steemit has managed to drain me. The truth is i can’t trade daily secular activities like my job etc for steemit because i am at a crucial stage in my life and i have never believed in working in another man’s dream for meager wages.
I am also alone in the Philippines and away from family and friends, so there is need for haste.
I am to be out there poking the globe from its outskirts with beautiful happy vibes, thus, i have lost the ability to sleep and i haven’t had real sleep for up to 8 months straight.
Every interval at work, i am on steemit and many hours after work, i am on steemit. My secular job is a call center and happens all night!
Ogochukwu: You run some time consuming projects here on steemit, what are the tools that help you work efficiently?
Surpassing Google: The truth is i am not very efficient and until i attain efficiency, i will likely stay drained. For these projects, I learn over time and set up an evolving system to enhance efficiency but even that leaves me drain as i am human.
For now though, i simple make use of discord servers and steemit.chat and all the tools available on steemit’s interface. i am working with people though to help me build tools as this becomes a necessity as expansion happens.
Ogochukwu: What would you have done differently earlier on steemit if you knew then what you know now?
Surpassing Google: Well many things, however i am not regretting it because the ups and downs on steemit from the onset is like real life and ultimately leads to personal growth. However, i would have advanced much faster in my steemit journey, if i understood how curation worked, if i had figured out the giving and receiving aspect of steem technology much earlier, if i had known how valuable bots can be and if i was a guru in creating valuable content.
Ogochukwu: What’s the best advice you ever received on Steemit/life?
Surpassing Google: I will stick with steemit on this one as i have had loads of advice in life. For steemit however, my best advice wasn't words. It was from the actions of @sykochica towards me that served as my advice all along until now. Simply put, “be selfless and exert yourself willingly on behalf of others”.
Ogochukwu: What are your thoughts about the three growth related priorities introduced by the Steem Team led by @Andrarchy and @zurvanic?( Communities, Effortless on-boarding and Mobile Application)
Surpassing Google: Well i am a fan. To support them, i have been underlying working on #steemitisbeautiful and #steemgigs to make their work with regards to communities easier. @steemgigs is also going to be working to support effortless onboarding by consciously look for newbies “call for help” to link them to steemians who can help.
Mobile application is utmost and it will speed up steem adoption as mobile is now in everyone’s pockets.
Ogochukwu: What is still your biggest challenge?
Surpassing Google: Biggest challenge in relation to steemit is lack of tools to use to enhance efficiency
Ogochukwu: You introduced the unMEAN sTWEETs Initiative, what is it about and how do you think it can contribute to the growth of Steemit?
Surpassing Google: Well, it simply celebrates the comment section, valuable comments and unmeanness all around steemit. Steem model is built around “mining with minds”.
A simple timely comment play its role in encouraging steemians to steem on and create pathways to other portions of steemit, at the same time strengthening community through interaction and engagement It also enable us identify the “humans behind the steemians”. It is pertinent to understand the wealth and depth of our existing community as that fixes many things.
