~Salam (Peace) To You~
Ramadan started today in most of the Islamic world, for us it's the month of Sawm (fasting till sunset) as part of our religious teachings. While that might seem hard, it's not as hard as it seems and for religious person these days are actually better than normal days.
The spirit of Ramadan fasting however isn't in abstaining from foods, drinks and the like. The spirit lies in self-restraint, controlling passions and temper. There are even teachings that if one didn't follow the universal teachings of Islam like the five prayers and avoiding sins, then instead of sawm, they're just starving themselves.
So, while it's easy to abstain from eating and drinking,
The challenge is to try your best to pray (Ramadan is also called The Month of Qur'an/Prayer,) do good things while avoid doing anything bad like harming, lying, lust, gossiping and wasting time.
Well, I say that but I'm really guilty of the last one,
I really need to stop wasting time!!
...It's not a Sawm if you didn't try to self-restrain yourself...
Hopefully in month we can become better people.
