Healthy Wholemeal & Green tea Bread recipe

Wholemeal and what?!?! I hear you cry!

Yes, wholemeal and green tea bread. Not only is this surprisingly but astonishingly tasty it has all the amazing benefits wholemeal bread brings coupled with the super health zing of green tea!

It was thanks to @englishtchrivy and the first culinary food challenge to make a healthy soup that inspired me to use green teas in my recipes. It worked with the soup so, I gave it a shot with the bread and it's excellent. Onwards we go!

You will need

250 grams of wholemeal flour
250 grams of strong white flour
7 grams of yeast
10 grams of salt
220 mls of tepid green tea
150 mls of tepid water

To make

Weigh out all your ingredients in a bowl. Make sure the salt and yeast are at opposite sides (salt kills yeast!)

Make a well in the centre and put your green tea and water in

Stir it all together, see my imaginary patented end of a spoon stirring technique to avoid getting messy fingers!

Once it all comes together like so, cover and leave for an hour or two

After that take it out and give it a knead for five or ten minutes. You can enlist the help of any willing children!

Pot it back in the bowl and cover again. Leave for a couple of hours till it has at least doubled in size.

Flour a baking tray

Take your dough out, flatten it till you have a rectangle and fold the long side nearest you into the middle and do the same with the furthest side overlapping a bit. Then place your big dough cigar into the baking tray.

Set your dough aside and put your oven on at 200 degrees.

About half an hour later when the oven is ready, slash the top of your dough several times

Bang it in the oven for 30 to 35 minutes!

Then take it out

Test it with your teeth for accuracy

Slice, eat and enjoy!!!!
