Cycling California, and hitting 46 mph

My Sunday late morning ride was a route that I have taken a few times through Los Gatos, Saratoga, Campbell and San Jose. It was a warm 82*f (Or 27.7 C for those outside of the USA). I went through the Los Gatos farmers market and snapped a colorful shot of the flowers below.

The ride was almost 30 miles and 1,500 feet of climbing over 1hr and 43 minutes.

There is a downhill on Shannon road in Los Gatos which starts out with a descent grade of 8% or so and you can get going pretty fast. I peaked out at 46 mph and soon after that caught up to a motorcycle that past me just before the summit.

There was a lady on the back and was smiling at me as I road along side at 35+ mph. I could have passed them easily, but did not. I actually had to brake to stay right behind them in a few turns...

Ever eaten an artichoke? This is what they look like if you leave them growing.

I took a short break under this redwood tree and had a little applesauce to get my energy up.
