Ljubljana is a special city with a special history. During WW2 it was completely surrounded with a barb wire fence. Some 32 kilometers of it to keep people in the city. It was one big prison.
The spirit of the city and the people prevailed over the fence. Then years after the war the path was built where the fence once was. It is called Pot spominov in tovarištva or The path of memories and friendship.
This path is one big and long recreational facility frequented throughout the year.
Yet, on one Saturday in May which is the closest to the May 9th, The Day Of Victory it is jam-packed with people.
People walk around the city. Several thousand make a full circle. Some of them join a special running event - The Triplets Run.
Three runners form a team which must run together and crosses the finish line together. This event has a deeper historical significance. It is also a lot of fun and camaraderie and for the vast majority of participants pure recreation. It is not a race.
For the fourth year in the row my friends Tadej, Klemen and I joined this big running party. It is a tradition in making. It is also a tradition to make a photo in the finish area with Ljubljana castle in the background.
