36'55" : This is my "worth" as a runner today ;-) #runforsteem post

Satisfied!

Finally I could run the 10K race today.

And I have to tell that it didn't went as I was expecting... I thought I was in better shape. Of course I have felt the lack of consistent training during the last weeks and, for sure, this was not the target race of the year.

Nevertheless, this has been my second race of the year being the first a 10K run on mid of January and on which I get 36'29" so, after 3 months of Competition "inactivity" the time I have got is not bad at all...

I have to tell that it is the first time I run this race and, honestly, I thought is was "easier" and flat but... it was not...

The race consisted on two laps around a 5K circuit:

I planned to pass the first lap, so the 5K point, over the 18'30" and then, increase the pace progressively till the end... but I failed...I started so fast, having very well sensations and thus I had a much better time at the 5K... Actually I did 36'10"... But the problem was that at 2'5km point and so, at 7.5Km as well in the second lap, we have an enormous "breaking-legs" slope:

During the first lap I "managed" to pass the slope really fast... something like 3'40"/km, but, in the second lap, I died, and I passed the slope at 4'/km and I suffered from then till the end. (See the second "peak" at the char above...the blue line is the pace, the green area is the race profile).

However, I am happy.

I managed to finish in the 17th position out of 280 runners, which is not bad!

And also I have enjoyed a good after-race meal, provided by the organisation...well, I paid the Beer ;-):
