Students' Cardmaster Global Championship is a short satire we filmed as part of a project for the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, Croatia.
We are interested in whether the film's message is cross-culturally relevant and understandable. Here's a bit of context on the student state of affairs in Croatia - the background which inspired us and to which you can "hopefully" (we're not sure about that) relate.
The film humorizes the hardships Croatian students have to face. Although our universities are marketed as top notch, the professors and the government are uncaring towards the real student struggle. Most universities accept far more students than the Croatian market requires. As a result the first two years of studies have turned into an elimination period during which a great many students drop out.
Also, the average student has to devise a plan how to extend his day to 36 hours because of attending obligatory classes, working at low-income jobs, or simply because there is never enough time.
We hope this is not the exact state of affairs in your countries, and that you're somewhat better off. Enjoy!
