Real News Crazier than Comic Books - Piglets as Organ Donors for Humans Incoming, Seriously

Luhan Yang, chief scientific officer at eGenesis (and cofounder) has combined the use of two very different advances in science and technology to make a possible breakthrough in helping end or at least slow the amount of people who die for lack of organs being donated.   Organ transplant lists all over are huge.  There is a black market for these things.  Luhan has imagined a reality where we just eliminate this issue all together, by creating the organs we need.

Using CRISPR, the still kind of new tool that allows a person to edit DNA, her team was able to stop viruses in pig cells.  The viruses they went after would have normally prevented pigs from being able to be used donors of organs for humans.  They are able to take these new cells, and use that crazy sheep cloning technology and create virus-free pig embryo.  37 virus free piglets have successfully been born, the photo above is three of the little pigs.   This news is very fresh but very promising, the main part of this process of having the piglets born without the things that would harm humans is great, way better than bacon.
