Graphene Makes Its Way To The Runway

Researchers in the UK have recently unveiled a new dress that's been made with graphene.

The team of researchers with the National Graphene Institute had collaborated with a wearable technology company, Cute Circuit, in order to create the product. The dress was unveiled at the Trafford Centre and it's able to change colors by syncing LED lights with the wearer's breathing. And thanks to the beneficial properties of the graphene, the dress is quite literally, 200 times stronger than steel.

Graphene was the material that the researchers used in order to power the LED lights on the dress. This is the first time that we are seeing graphene used in the fashion industry and it might not be long before we see more items coming to the runway, that have been made with this material.

The designers hope that some day the technology might be able to create a dress that can be programmed in order to show any color or potential design. Graphene can really help to contribute in changing the fashion industry in a very unique and profound way. This material was only first discovered/isolated a little over a decade ago, and so much research has already been done to prove that there really is no limit to what we can do with graphene.

We have seen graphene used in bike helmets, tennis rackets, bike tires, phones, phone cases, and much more. Graphene will continue to be a lucrative area both in research and for products in the market, for many years yet to come. We haven't even started to see what we might be able to accomplish by utilizing this material.

The new graphene dress is being regarded as the world's most high-tech dress at the moment, credited as the strongest dress in the world. If the trend continues in this direction, who knows how long it might be before we start seeing graphene-based clothing pass us on the streets; and a whole lot more.
