Human Body

In the early years of my age, I was very agile and energetic girl.
Having a great desire for sport and especially for basketball, I decided to get in the basketball team of my city “Korça”.
I was only 9 years old when I started for the first time to play basketball, and only then for the first time I saw changes in my body when I started to perform physical exercises, running with a different and dynamic force. Year after year I saw my body changing, I became more strong in mind and body, more healthy, more secure in my self, more competitive. A strong body in a strong mind…
Growing, I continued to play as well as becoming a professional player, until I reached my dream to play in my country's national team of Albania.
After completing high school I decided to study at the University of sports in Tirana. I was amazed by the anatomy class.
I have always been fascinated by the construction of the human body since the first day of the birth, living every day with it, and until we take the last breathe.
Our body is the greatest gift that we have, and so we should care for it maximally.
No matter the race, no matter our religious beliefs, no matter our political orientation, it does not matter if we’re rich or poor ... we all share the same thing: our body.

I decided to post this writing after my visit in Milan, in the biggest exhibition for the construction of the human body “Real Bodies”. This exhibition uses real human bodies of both health and disease, with the Polymer Preservation, who manages to crystallize a human body, making it invulnerable to the passage of time even after the individual's death.
Our body produce 25 million new cells each second, whose circulatory system is made up of 60,000 and 80,000 miles of blood vessels, whose nervous system provides the 200 muscles necessary for us to take even the smallest step. This is one of the biggest magic of our wonderfull body.
I want to show you some specific details from this exhibition.
The first speciman that I saw was the skeletal system, with a compound of a large number of bones. Although we are unable to see, our body contain in total 206 bones.
But we have to keep them (and not only) healthy over time, adopt healthy lifestyle habits: sports and a balanced diet.
Only six months of exercise allow to improve 15-20% the memory, decision-making ability and attention.
Muscles are the biggest tissue of our body, and the strongest muscle is masseter, that is used for chewing. Our tounge is formed by 16 individual muscles and the first passage of digestion is the mouth, where the substances undergo a substantial modification. Other passages are: pharynx and larynx, esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, small and large intestine.
We are born with a preference for sweety or salty and during our lives we eat more than 27 tons of food, or equal the weight of six elephants.
Human liver performs over 500 functions, where the most importants are sugar metabolism, traffic regulation of lipids, detoxification, glucose reserves and the production of red blood cells.
A red blood cell can pass through the body in less than 20 seconds and our blood vessels if they are connected one after the other could cover a distance greater than two times the Earth's circumference.
The most beautiful thing of this exhibition was the specimen with million of blood vessels, small arteries and the main artery of body “Aorta”. All detailed up to the smallest speck.

When our heart pump,it creates a pressure sufficient to spray the blood at a distance of over nine meters.
The aorta is the largest artery in the body, has a diameter similar to that of a garden hose. The capillaries, however, are so small that to get to the thickness of a human hair it takes ten.
An adult makes an average of 10 to 15 breaths per minute, while babies makes 40, and within 60 years of age 60% of men and 40% of women snore.
The bladder of an adult can hold about 473 milliliters, but the desire to urinate starts already with 150 milliliters. The daily volume of urine is about 1500 milliliters.
The kidney performs four basic tasks by adjusting:

  1. The budget of water and electrolytes and in particular the pH of the blood;
  2. The blood pressure;
  3. The production of red blood cells;
  4. The metabolism of calcium and thus the skeletal metabolism.
    The brain mass corresponds to 2% of our body and the brain uses 20% of the total available oxygen.
    But how to keep our bodies healthy?
    We need to hydrate, eat healthy, avoid and minimize the consumption of fizzy, sugary drinks and alcoholic beverages.
    Do not smoke, and if you do, stop as soon as possible. Do sports, do regularity medical checks and consult doctors.

My body is the greatest gift I have, so I take care of it maximally...
