Every Child is Special; Tackling In Vitro Fertilization

Every child brought into this world is like an angel wrapped in a bundle of joy and given as a present and a living proof of God’s undying love to every couple. And God stated in the Bible; the only way to procreate is by means of sexual intercourse but what if a child isn’t made through this process? What if this child is just a product of the advancement of Science and Technology? Can we still consider it as a gift from heaven or is it something evil?

To simply put it up, In vitro fertilization is the process wherein the woman’s egg cell and the man’s sperm cell unites in a test tube thus creating life without the act of marital sex. It is indeed contrary to what the Bible teaches but as a future physician I believe that in this modern era it should be accepted as long as the purpose is good.

For example, if a couple could not bear a child through the conventional process due to a sickness or functional abnormality then why should we not allow them to try other means? In vitro in this situation is good in the sense that it gives hope to couples who wishes to have their own child. Second, yes it is contrary to what the bible said but let us keep in mind that as the world is changing and advancing so is the law of God and I think that the discovery and advancement of technology is a gift from heaven that we should use for the good of many people. And lastly, every child brought in this world regardless of the method is still a blessing from God. It has life and dignity that must be respected and protected and he/she is also entitled with the same rights every human holds. The child might not be created through sexual intercourse but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he/ she is not product of love because we cannot limit the thought of love just on sex. There are many ways a couple can show love and feel love with one another. And if in vitro fertilization is one way to express and feel this so called “love” why disagree with it?

God is love. Whoever lives in love, lives in God and God in them – 1 John 4:16. So long as the couples love each other and the purpose of the in vitro is to express their love and to promulgate this love by having a child then it is not morally evil nor considered as a sin to the law of God. It should be accepted with an open mind knowing that this child made from test tube is not a product of scientific experiment rather a special gift from God with a little help of Science. This also does not change the fact that every child is special.
