Tesla Will Release A Remake Of The Roadster - Probably Before 2020

Who remembers the original Tesla Roadster?

It's a 2-seater convertible sportscar, with a similar design to a Lotus Elise.
Tesla only got the mainstream media's attention with the release of their limousine Model S, but the Roadster was actually their first official car.

It was the first all-electric, serial production car using lithium ion batteries, and it was also the most advanced electric car of its time with a charging range of over 200 miles.

During its production from 2008 to 2012, roughly 2500 units have been sold!

And now, Elon Musk has confirmed on twitter that Tesla will be working on a new model of the roadster!

While the release is still a few years away (some say 2019), it's still an exciting option to think about.
Tesla is currently offering cars in a Limousine and SUV style - and the new Model 3, a cheaper and smaller combination model, will arrive on the market this year.

A 2-seater sports car would be a new addition to the Tesla family, and not only bring back old memories but also offer a different customer target audience.

So what will the new Roadster be like?

We don't know yet - no details have been confirmed yet.
The only thing Elon Musk stated is that the new version of the roadster will be bigger, different and faster.
Rumours say that it could go from 0 to 11 in under 3 seconds - and the new roadster will probably use the base of the Model 3 and have a range of about 400km.
Who knows, maybe it will even be named "Model R" to fit in with the other models!

We may not know much about the new Roadster yet - but it seems like Tesla is definitely working on it, despite the release being a few years away.

Fans of electric sports cars can get excited - I'm sure Tesla will use all their resources to make the best possible upgraded version of a roadster.
Until then, we'll have to wait patiently!
