What is the third world country?

The definition of the Third World Country first emerged during the Cold War. During the Cold War period, increased tensions between NATO and the Communist Bloc and political games directly affected this process. So, the concept was used to define countries that aren't compatible with NATO or the Communist Bloc.

While the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea and Western European countries are defined as the First World, The Soviet Union, China, Cuba and allies are defined as Second World. The countries outside these two poles were categorized as Third World. In this respect, all the countries of the world were divided into three groups in terms of political, economical and power. This distinction made during the Cold War still continues today and the definition of the Third World Country is still actively used.

Third world countries economies

Economic development is the process by which a nation develops economic, political and social well-being. In Third World countries, this process is slow and generally below the desired rate. Modernization and industrialization directly affect the economic development of countries. That is why economic, social and educational reforms are often carried out in third world countries. It is also directly related to economic development, environmental and environmental problems. Developing economically and educationally countries tend to be more peaceful in their approach to social and environmental problems.

“More than half the people of the world are living in conditions approaching misery. Their food is inadequate, they are victims of disease. Their economic life is primitive and stagnant. Their poverty is a handicap and a threat both to them and to more prosperous areas. For the first time in history humanity possesses the knowledge and the skill to relieve the suffering of these people ... I believe that we should make available to peace-loving peoples the benefits of our store of technical knowledge in order to help them realize their aspirations for a better life… What we envisage is a program of development based on the concepts of democratic fair dealing ... Greater production is the key to prosperity and peace. And the key to greater production is a wider and more vigorous application of modem scientific and technical knowledge."
