THIS IS @CELF’s FINAL PROPOSAL FOR THE SNDBOX SUMMER CAMP FINAL QUEST, PREPARED BY @joedukeg, @rasamuel, @fivefiveeleven, @mariskalubris and @irma27. Based on the first proposal, adding the modifications and advances.

A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO CELF: MISSION STATEMENT AND OBJECTIVE

Our mission has always been focused on supporting artists, as we believe that their contribution to humanity and to STEEM is invaluable. These 3 months we have been motivated by the belief that CELF, through the Steem blockchain can contribute to building a decentralized community-based model of growth that reinforces the cultural value that the artist brings to the world.

CELF it is also a curation initiative on Steem with the objective of facilitate the adoption of the Steem Blockchain by the artistic community, and provide an ecosystem where artists and creatives have the freedom to express their art, get better at their crafts all the while getting the necessary rewards for their efforts and talents. The Steem Blockchain has so much potential as a hub where creatives thrive, giving its peculiar reward system and tremendous communal spirit. We at CELF simply aim to take full advantage of this to realize that dream.

WHAT SETS CELF APART

What differentiates CELF from other curation initiatives on the Blockchain is that with CELF the emphasis is not just on monetary curation, in terms of upvote alone, but also what we term social curation—a kind of curation that emphasizes interaction and engagement aimed at improving artists and curators through helpful commentaries and guidance. Our aim is to bring value to the Steem Blockchain by building, and most importantly, fostering a community of engaged artists and creatives who will enrich the platform with their arts. It is quite easy to notice that our goal is quite similar and very much in line with @sndbox’s.

OUR GOALS

After more than a week of intensive brainstorming and discussions, we—the project member mentioned above—came up with a few ideas we hope to implement to make a better CELF for the Blockchain. Some of these ideas can, and are meant to, be implemented in the near future while some are long-term goals, which we hope with @sndbox’s support, will be very much achievable.

1. DIVERSIFYING CELF

CELF was conceived initially as a community for undiscovered Latin American Artists, but with the project becoming bigger and having the potential to secure @sndbox’s support, we figured there was no need to limit our scopes. Our aim now is to make CELF a space for artists from all over the world regardless of their languages and nationalities. To implement this dream we have started to make the CELF Discord Server bilingual, with English and Spanish as the main language. And after suggestions by @mariskalubris and @irma27, we have also begun to look into creating Indonesian channels, with Mariska and Irma in charge of curation.

2. SECURING ADDDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR CELF

For any upcoming project on Steem, we all know the importance of external support cannot be over emphasize, which is why we were excited when the opportunity to get extra support for CELF curated artists showed up in the form of the Curation Collective (@c-squared).

@c-squared is a curation initiative meant to support the various curation efforts on the Steem Blockchain, and since we found their visions to be very much in line with ours, we are glad to announce that we have secured their support to give further reward and exposure to CELF artists. Posts curated and curation reports by CELF now have the potential to be passed on to @c-squared for extra curation (subjected to @c-squared review, of course.)

Also, all the posts upvoted by CELF's have the opportunity to be taken to the "Vote Energy Laboratory" or "Laboratorio de Energia Votónica" founded by @nnnarvaez (@castellano witness) where they will be queued and every 144 minutes once the VP reaches 100% they will be upvoted from an SP pool of 51.000 Steem Power, the upvote weight will depend on the quality of the article.

3. PROMOTING THE STEEM BLOCKCHAIN

As stated above, promoting steemit.com, and the Steem Blockchain as a whole, remains one of the most prominent goal of CELF. CELF promotion will, of course, target the artistic demographic. We at CELF believe we can leverage the reward system of the Steem Blockchain, and the sense of community it is very much capable of fostering, to encourage artists all over the world, convincing them they can have a potential home and space to express themselves and showcase their talent here on Steemit.

To do this, we plan to target the various offline artistic communities around us. Plans have been made to come up with CELF stickers that would be distributed at art galleries, exhibitions, music centers, literary clubs, bars—because we all know artists love their bars.

We also want to carry out activities in study centres, museums, cultural centres, etc. In order to inform artists and creatives about how the STEEM BLOCKCHAIN and CELF can help them to grow on this system.

4. MORE EMPHASIS ON "SOCIAL CURATION"

As stated earlier, CELF curation will not be limited to monetary rewards in terms of upvote, but to foster a space where artists from all over the world can come together to exchange ideas and make each other better. Towards this end we have our very own Discord Server where we hope artists can come together to relate ideas, and help each other in nurturing their talents.

Also involved in CELF Social Curation is the practice of championing constructive criticism on curated posts by members of the community. We believe this kind of engagement will not only go a long way in encouraging artists that Steemit is indeed a safe place for their art, but also in developing these artists, who will in turn bring value to the Blockchain by enriching it with their various works of art.

We curate articles of the following categories:

  • Plastic, visual and performing arts
  • Literature
  • Music

CELF will be curating in three languages using certain tags, it means you can be part of this community blogging in your own language, the idea is to keep adding more languages, that means more curators to give all the Steemians a chance to be part. The idea about tagging your posts goes far from just recognizing the posts to upvote, in this way we are gonna be able to teach the right tag usage, encouraging them to use this tags instead of random tags only to get exposure:

@fivefiveeleven, @mariska.lubis

However, the use of this tags it is not an exclusive rule for being upvoted by CELF, the quality of the content will always be more important.

Some of our latest curation reports

#64 #65 #66

All articles are reviewed and upvoted manually, the content is original and free of plagiarism.

5. THE CELF MAGAZINE

The CELF Magazine is a digital magazine where a collection of artists will have the opportunity to share their works through the @celfmagazine blog. This will, of course, serve as a vehicle to bring more exposure to the featured artists and authors, and also earn them more rewards as a percentage of the SBD obtained from the magazine will be shared among the contributors.

CELF MAGAZINE was born with the initiative of being a digital magazine to diffuse authors with quality content on the STEEM platform, to generate a space where the reader can think and learn about Art and the "Art World", from a critical and reflection point of view.

There will also be a space reserved for carrying out interviews of featured author in every issue of the magazine.

6. CELF-SPONSORED CONTESTS

As a means of reaching a wider audience here on steemit, and also a way to spur on existing artists, CELF will be organizing contests with a tangible pool prize. These will take different shapes and will fall in line with the different categories of art which CELF supports—that is, Visual Art, Performing Art, Plastic Art, Music and literature.

Examples of initiatives carried out previously

The best of the week | Rewarding Artists (Lo mejor de la semana | Recompensando artistas) 3-4 SBD's in prizes:

#1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8

Poetry Contest - Couplets (Concurso de poesía - Pareados) 2 SBD's in prizes

Edition #1, Winners

Edition #2, Winners

Most of them are in Spanish, soon we will have English versions of the contests and all the initiatives.

We believe hosting these contests will serve as a prompt to inspire artists to create once again. Apart from the monetary rewards, winners will also get a chance to be featured and interviewed in the CELF Magazine.

7. CELF WEBSITE AND POSSIBLE DAPP

We want to take the project to another level, providing a unique service running on the STEEM BLOCKCHAIN.

CELF would go from a Steemit-dependent project to a website with its own SMT and reward system.

How would this Website/DAPP work?

It would be premature to say exactly and with all the details how this will work, but what we can say is that we want to provide a tool to grow the artistic community on Steem and also to solve problems regarding Art and Culture around the world. We hope to achieve this with the support of SNDBOX, maybe another projects and individuals in the STEEM community, and, obviously, all the work that the CELF team can provide.

We will have more information about this in the near future.

Requirements for the SNDBOX SUMMER CAMP final quest.

Individual posts about the project development:

100 SBD's hypothetical budget:

  • 80% of the budget (80 SBD's) will be used for Power Up, it may be a small sum of STEEM's (which adds almost nothing to our upvote) but if we are a project that seeks to grow in the long term it seems to us that reinvesting most of the profits to obtain STEEM POWER is crucial, not only for our growth but also to convey a good image for potential investors. This will allow us to reach agreements with whales, dolphins or projects on STEEM to upvote our articles for a limited or unlimited period of time in order to obtain a certain amount of STEEM POWER.

  • 20% of the budget (20 SBD's) will be used as seed capital to finance Steem-powered Art/Culture related contests which will continue to be financed with a percentage of the SBD's that generate the posts of these activities.
