"Space Oddity"
Space Oddity (Rareza Espacial) representa una de las obras cumbre del músico británico David Bowie. Fue editada como sencillo en el año 1969.
La canción narra el lanzamiento al espacio del Mayor Tom, quien sufre una odisea como astronauta. Bowie se dedica a describir la sensación desoladora de flotar en el espacio dentro de una ínfima caja de lata y al mismo tiempo desconectado de toda comunicación con la tierra.
Se supone que la canción fue lanzada para que coincidiera con el aterrizaje en la Luna del Apolo 11. La canción fue utilizada por la BBC en su cobertura del alunizaje.
En el año 1973 fue reeditado por RCA Records en los Estados Unidos, alcanzando el puesto N°15 en la Billboard Hot 100.
