"I Love Rock 'n Roll" la canción fue originalmente grabada y lanzada por The Arrows en el año 1975, bajo la discográfica RAK Records, y producida por Mickie Most. La canción lamentablemente no tuvo éxito, por la falta de promoción de parte de la discográfica.
Alrededor del mundo, la canción ha alcanzado una gran prominencia tras el éxito de las versiones que se han realizado de ella.
"I Love Rock 'n Roll" fue doblemente versionada por Joan Jett. La primera grabación que realizó de este tema fue en el año 1979, con dos de los Sex Pistols: Steve Jones y Paul Cook. Dicha primera versión no fue un éxito. Para el año 1982, se re-grabó la canción, esta vez, con la banda The Blackhearts, fue cuando la canción se transformó en nº 1 en el Billboard Hot 100 durante siete semanas.
Este éxito hizo que el álbum "I Love Rock & Roll" de Jett se hiciera con el N° 2 en los Estados Unidos.
