Ammonite

Ammonite is not actually a crystal. As you may have guessed, judging from the look of it, it is in fact a fossil.

Amun - The Sun & Fertility God

The word 'Ammonite' was derived from the name of the Egyptian God Ammon (or Amun) who was, after Egypt conquered Kush, depicted by a ram with curved horns.

Commonly known as Amun-Ra the Sun God, Amun is also known as Amun-Min the Fertility God.

Amun-Min as Amun-Ra ka-Mut-ef from the temple at Deir el Medina.

Amun in the New Kingdom rapidly became the most popular and most widely venerated deity in Egypt. Wilkinson notes that "the monuments which were built to him at that time were little short of astounding and Amun was worshipped in many temples throughout Egypt"

Ya, I suppose being the Fertility God AND the Sun God can have that effect.

The Fossil

Ammonites were spread far and wide across the ocean floor during the age of the dinosaurs. Perhaps it was a coincidence, most probably not, that the ammonite's extinction coincided with the extinction of dinosaurs.

Their modern day cousins include the nautilus, squid, cuttlefish and octopus.

Believe it or not, fossilization is rarer than we thought!

Fossilization is actually a rare occurrence because organic materials tend to decompose and the process requires the relatively quick preservation of bodily remains. Normally, the remains need to be covered by sediment or trapped in resin as soon as possible. However there are exceptions to this, such as if an organism comes to rest in an anoxic (without oxygen) environment at the bottom of a lake. The oldest known structured fossils date from 3.5 billion years ago. There are several different types of fossils and fossilization processes including permineralisation, mold or replacement fossils, compression fossils, resin fossils and trace fossils. Many fossils available on the market are from Morocco, which has vast deposits of Devonian Limestone which date back three hundred fifty million years ago.

That's a lot of millions!

Healing Properties

Now this is where my real interest in Ammonite begins.

Usually I would go on about the effect Ammonite has in your world but since this is my first piece of Ammonite and is part of my mineral collection, thus stuck on the foam with glue, I haven't been able to work with it yet and tell you guys how I feel about it.

Apparently though...

Ammonite has the ability to activate psychic abilities and is especially effective when place on one's third eye chakra.

It also activate ones spiritual will and personal empowerment, stimulating survival instincts and confidence that one will prevail.

I found this particular bit interesting as I am one of those people who have complete faith in the Universe that things will unfold as they should, as I expect everything I need to cross my path in perfect and divine timing.

It is also said to assist in the birthing process and can provide ease and relaxation during childbirth.

A lot of my friends know Hubby and I have been waiting for the right time to try for a baby. With the sale of our land ticked off our to do list, our new house just over the horizon, it's not that long before it's baby time.

Last time wasn't the best and it's taken 16 years for me to stop being scared to go through birthing and PND again.

I also have it in my head to have a home birth so I'm not really surprised this crystal, sorry, Fossil, made it in my collection at this moment.

I've been around heaps of these in the past few years but they never held my interest until now.

Things always come at the right time.

I hope you guys enjoyed this short article on Ammonite and found it informative.

I sure learned a few things while researching this today.
