Michael Gerard Tyson (born June 30, 1966) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2005. He reigned as the undisputed world heavyweight champion and holds the record as the youngest boxer to win a heavyweight title at 20 years, 4 months and 22 days old.Tyson won his first 19 professional fights by knockout, 12 of them in the first round. He won the WBC title in 1986 after stopping Trevor Berbick in two rounds, and added the WBA and IBF titles after defeating James Smith and Tony Tucker in 1987. This made Tyson the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC and IBF titles, and the only heavyweight to successively unify them.
In the ring, with the help of teddy atlas, the peak boo style unleashed Tysons fury to a mythical status. Tyson was untouchable, and would make men quiver with fear in the ring. Had he stayed with teddy atlas, and not fallen into the dark side with Don King, he would have stayed sharp and defeated buster douglass, holyfield, lewis. And should he have met the klitchkos, they would have been destroyed in the ring as well.
Tyson is a boxer that comes only once every few generations or so. It was destined for him to be the best boxer, being discovered in jail by a guard this was no coincidence, then moving to the catskills to train with Cus D'Amato and the genius teddy atlas. The precocious athlete displayed unheard of power and speed and agility, and could take a hit if necessary.
He didn't lose because he wasn't good, he lost b/c he lost direction and his mental state was unhinged. But everything happens by Gods will, the loss helped him, to find Islam, made the pilgrimage, and hopefully now he can live in peace, b/c he knows the truth about life and that he is the best boxer ever.
Tyson’s personal and professional exploits were recounted in the documentary Tyson, which premiered at the Cannes film festival in 2008, and in a one-man stage show, Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth, which he first performed in Las Vegas in 2012. (The show was subsequently mounted on Broadway in a production directed by filmmaker Spike Lee.) He also appeared as himself in a number of television shows and films, including the blockbuster comedy The Hangover (2009) and its sequel (2011). His memoirs Undisputed Truth (2013) and Iron Ambition: My Life with Cus D’Amato (2017) were cowritten with Larry Sloman. Tyson was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2011.
