STEEM ATLAS : The Atlas Quiz 03 - On the Road Again [08 Jan '25]

Thank you to everyone who took part in the second Atlas Quiz.

I am now off on my adventures across Europe and beyond.

Thank you to @hotspotitaly, @soulfuldreamer and @event-horizon particularly for helping track my journey so far.

After flying out from Cardiff Airport I had a couple of interesting days exploring Malaga in Spain.

Then I set off on the next stage of my trip. Follow along and see if you can trace my steps...

The Atlas Quiz #3 - On the Road Again

After a couple of nights in Malaga I took a bus.

I was aiming for an early start with the 7.30am bus but the bed in the hotel was so comfy I overslept.

It was no problem as it gave my another few hours to explore the street art of Malaga before I caught the next bus at 1.30pm.

Question #1 - Breaking Down...

The journey was supposed to be two and half hours in total, but the bus got a puncture along the way.

Luckily a local garage was able to bring out a new tyre quite quickly but it gave me some time to explore the place we stopped in.

It was a quaint little area with beautiful views of the mountains in one direction...

And the sea in other direction...

I didn't catch the name of the place but there was a posh horsey place there, and I think a local station, Radio08, was playing in one of the shops.

Where did we break down, and who wrote about this place on Steem Atlas?

Question #2 - The Wheels on the Bus

Fixing the bus took a couple of hours in the end as the mechanic found that wheel had a couple of nuts missing. For obvious safety reasons the mechanic insisted that the nuts should be replaced so he had to go back to his garage to get replacements.

Some of the passengers started complaining about the delay, but I didn't mind as I really didn't fancy the wheel falling off.

Once the new tyre and the wheel was all fixed, the driver hooted a few times to make sure all the passengers were back on board then we were off again.

I was strongly tempted to break into song, but wasn't sure it would go down well...

[Brief musical interlude for @the-gorilla youngsters 👶👶]

The remainder of the journey was quite uneventful - although I did have a pleasant, and very interesting, conversation with an elderly lady who somehow got on the bus when we had our unplanned stop. I think she knew the driver.

She was an ex-pat from Shrewsbury who had been living in Spain for nearly fifty years.

Mary's story was a classic tale. She was on holiday with her parents in the 1970s.

Impressionable 17 year old falls madly in love with handsome young Spanish waiter at the hotel.

Against her parents' wishes Mary keeps in touch with Miguel Ángel.

The following year shortly after her 18th birthday, Mary uses the money she has earnt from her Saturday job at Freeman, Hardy & Willis to go on a week's holiday to Spain with the other girls working in the shoe shop.

Mary meets up with Miguel Ángel during the holiday.

Returns home. Starts at Teacher Training College. Discovers she is pregnant.

Argues with parents. Flies to Spain. Marries Miguel Ángel.

A tough but happy life ensues until tragedy strikes.

Miguel Ángel is stabbed in a late night robbery that goes bad when he refuses to hand over the night's takings at the bar.

Heartbroken after her Angel of 30 years passes on.

But life goes on with four children and eight grandchildren to keep her busy.

Mary insists I stay the night at their hotel near the beachfront.

Her grandson Jesús who runs the bar makes the best Sundowner in town.

I can't refuse.

And I totally agree. The Sundowner is very good...

Where am I now and which Steem Atlas post am I having a drink with?

What next?

Tomorrow, or the next day, I am going to hit the waves.

A whole new world awaits me.

More types of transportation.

New countries and more...

I hope you will enjoy this third quiz.

It took a little storytelling diversion on the bus journey, but I enjoyed writing it 😀

If people like this type of quiz I will keep on making them until I run out of ideas.

Happy quizzical travels...
