Now for something different....
This sketch has been lingering in my art book for a long time now, but after a while, I figure that I'll just finalize the art. So here's the art of a certain succubus which is undoubtedly some of the most popular out there.
Well, she's Morrigan Aensland from the Darkstalkers series (in Japan it is known as Vampire, which is kinda..... bland....). She's the most popular character from the franchise thanks to a numbers of crossover and cameos that Capcom has done to her. Which is a shame. I would really like to see another Darkstalkers fighting game because of how unique that game is.
Anyways, the steps!
Base sketch.
Sketch details.
Her design is..... surprisingly simple.
Inking/Lineart.
As usual, smaller lines for the face and larger lines for the others.
Base colors.
Another one of those simple yet recognizable colors. I actually liked the base colors before adding the details since it captures her style so much LOL.
Details.
She looks ......shiny for some reason :/.....
And now the background.
Basically I'm trying to do a purple night sky. This is of course a vector art. So this like one of those where I mix vector art with my art.
Now to put her in this vector art with some extra effects.
And finally some final adjustments and composition.
Ah Morrigan.....
She's really popular. Probably some of the most popular succubus ever. She has a lot of fanarts, cosplays, .....you name it! Of course, her most defining trait is her sex appeal. Fun fact, she was originally designed to be a cute vampire, but since Darkstalkers already has a Vampire in the name of Demitri Maximoff, so she ends up being a succubus which adds the overall types in the Darkstalkers universe. Some of her vampire design sticks with her however, with her bat motif and all.
The game itself was really entertaining!
It's like one of those styles where you mix Looney Tunes and anime into one heck of a fighting game! That alone make the game full of personality with each of its characters traits on full display thanks to it's expressive sprites animations. Principles of Animation FTW, and also the Capcom art team for their unique design (Bengus and Akiman comes to mind.) It's such a shame that this game has not have a new game after a long time. Guess Morrigan has to represent the Darkstalkers for Capcom for the time being. That obscure fighting game will always be remembered for its outlandish characters.
Anyways, Enjoy! :D
