Steem-Cartoon
There were many questions posed to both myself and @sireh when we first started this community. Why do you need another tag when you have art, comic, drawing and funnies? Although our answer then was simple, we just wanted a community to be called our own, but after having lived and struggled with this guys for the last 3 1/2 months, I think I found a better answer.
I am glad we have this community for more reasons than one. This is the community that watched each other's back when the going was tough, stood by each other and gave good support to each other.
(Our first donation drive for a fellow ailing cartoonist)
(The generous contribution from concerned friends and members of steem-cartoon)
These people that I mention included our friends from other parts of the world and if I have to name a few they are:-
@adelepazani, @cobmaximus, @thunderbirdcomics, @saintchristopher, @helenanoble, @holaglendy, @fabiyamada, @creativetruth, @dunsky, @stahlberg, @lunaticmoon and many others that I could have missed.
Selfless People
I have my fair share of encounters with people who taught me a thing or two about selfless giving. One of them is a dear friend of mine who constantly tag #steem-cartoon as her community. Her name is Olivia and she comes under the pen name @coloringiship.
This lady despite her own struggles still found the passion and the energy to make life better for others, when in fact she is facing her own challenges. She does not come from a privileged background but she make every effort to ensure that others needing help are given their due attention. You can see she is one of the donor when we requested for donation.
This lady through her own effort alone managed to raise $163 for Daniel Savage a stage IV cancer patient, speak about people who speaks volume by their action.
Today is Olivia's birthday and @coloringiship, you and your action proves that artists do have big hearts and you come with the biggest heart of them all. Happy Birthday my dear friend.
Thank you for being an awesome human being. You show to us all that you don't need much to be a generous human. All you need is a big heart and a lot of love. We are proud to call you one of us.
Now Growth
Now that we are growing at a regular pace, there are other challenges that we face, we may not be able to ensure that the votes are distributed because of the limited resources that we have. But we will continue to ensure that the best post that we think deserve good upvotes, affirmative action will be taken.
Now that the group is growing steadily, there is one new idea that we would like to explore which is going to be a good collaboration with #steem-music. We would want to try incorporating cartoons with music and explore what Dtube has to offer. That work is in the pipeline and we hope that it will not take too long for us to deliver the post.
Currenty #steem-music is a new community that is picking up pace. The talents that has been growing under the stewardship of @calebleejl has been quite astonishing with many personalities from youtube joining Steemit both for the community growth and also for the monetary reward of blogging in the steem blockchain.
Collaboration with MyJuniors
There is an initiative that was launched recently by @elizacheng under a bigger umbrealla of @myarch which are meant for the younger crowd and this community will partake in one of their activity which is drawing and cartooning.
I came across this video and the contents are interesting and I thought it would be good to share the information
So, giving the video the benefit of the doubt, I really do believe that people who can draw are really intelligent people. Apart from being intelligent, they have also shown that they are loyal friends with hearts of gold.
For all the reasons above, I verily state that I have every reason to stand by my community and go the distance. To whaledom...
