Steemit Meetup in Dublin

We had a great evening last night at the second @steem-dublin meetup in Dublin.

If you have been checking out the #meetup tag recently you may have noticed that communities around the world are becoming more active with meetups happening every week, a quick look at the trending page and I could find some from Florida, Boston, Korea, Malaysia, Birmingham, Austin, Bali, Poland....

@steem-dublin

There were a few new faces at yesterdays meetup in Dublin, it's so great to put a name to a face and I was delighted to meet @paulag for the first time.

The aim of Steem Dublin is to promote Steemit, and in particular Irish authors and artists who wish to get started on Steemit. We initially have been supporting them with votes and resteems but facilitating a regular meetup gives people the opportunity to chat and discuss with like minded people face to face.

It wasn't all talk about Steemit and Cryptocurrency (but it did go in that directions at several points). Some of the people who attended have very interesting niches, and the chat focused more on them; Art, Photography, Podcasts, E-books, Marketing. This is a really great bunch of people.

The Print Room at The Duke Bar

It feels like The Duke Bar is becoming the place of choice for our meetups and there was interest last night in making it a regular monthly event. The next meetup is provisionally scheduled 26th of August (The last Saturday of the month).

The Duke has enjoyed a distinguished association with the literary greats of the Irish Nation.
James Stephens, James Joyce, Oliver St. John Gogarty and Arthur Griffith breezed into the Duke regularly in the early days of the century when they wanted a quiet reflective jar.
In later years, the three great literary musketeers, Brendan Behan, Patrick Kavanagh and Myles Na gCopoleen

Previous Meetups @steem-dublin

Aside from everyone who attended, we got several messages in the last week from people all across Ireland who couldn't quite make this one, but we hope to see some new faces at the next one.

It is very reassuring that the community in Ireland is growing, @steem-dublin is currently following 35 people. There is a diverse array of content being produced; from sand sculptures to drone photography. There are several authors running competitions; @rickyjrx runs a weekly Photography Challenge "#rickysphotochallenge" and I run a monthly Travel/Culture challenge "#culturevulture". Have you checked out @beanz on the weekly @votu podcast? This is some interesting stuff and just a few examples of how Irish Authors are contributing to Steemit.

Follow @steem-dublin for updates about future meetups in Dublin and for promotion of some great content.

Hope to see you at the next meetup in August.

Thanks Everyone who attended last night, with special thanks to @condra for the group photo and @ishtar for the Steem Dublin Logo and t-shirt designs.
