Ask not what the world can do for you. Instead, ask yourself what you can do for the world.
Human beings are connected today in ways that are unparalleled in history. Given that the root cause of most of humanities ailments and divisions are economic and largely artificial, we have the greatest opportunity that has ever existed to unite, share, adapt and grow.
There exists a gigantic latent potential for ideas and productivity, just waiting to be unleashed in all the people of the world. We talk about the potential threats of robotics and AI to human relevance. The most sophisticated computers in the universe are sitting in all our heads, the majority of which are just waiting to have their potential unleashed.
The better our tools for innterconnectivity become, the closer we come to the understanding that the difference between one human being and another is completely superficial. At the same time, those tiny differences harbour all the magnificent seeds of individuality, creativity, specialisation, genius and perspective that we need to innovate, adapt and grow.
All the archaic and irrational tribalism that seeks to divide, control and destroy us has had it's day. The end cannot come soon enough because we have a lot to do to overcome the horrific trauma we've unleashed upon our home and each other.
Steem Power delegation = Super Power
When Steem Power is delegated, the influence, potential to direct rewards from the Steem reward pool and potential to earn Steem from curation and posting is gifted to another account. The gift is not permanent, it takes one week to recover delegated Steem Power.
Why is Steem Power delegation a Super Power?
Beyond the fact that you are gifting economic potential, it's what that economic potential can be utilised for that makes it a Super Power.
With enough Steem Power, you could fund;
a scientist or group of scientists to research cancer treatments
a producer to make a film
a lawyer to build a case against a corrupt entity on behalf of a community
a new community within the Steem economy
a farming community to grow and distribute organic food
an emergency relief operation
a charity that build schools or wells
a doctor or group of doctors to travel the world teaching hygiene
a group of inventors to figure out how to remove nuclear power radioactive isotopes from the environment
Big initiative or small, the list is endless, limited only by our imaginations and generosity.
One day, I expect there will be a market for delegated Steem Power and you will be able to more easily choose the initiatives you want to support and track their accomplishments.
There will be a market pressure towards quality, efficiency and integrity. All the projects that hold delegated Steem Power naturally have an incentive to deliver against their promises or will quickly lose the privilege.
Holders of delegated Steem Power are incentivised to create quality content about the initiatives they are engaged in. This helps to drive up the quality of posts on Steemit.
Might it also be reasonable to expect that accounts, communities or businesses that benefit from the trust and gift of delegated Steem Power will, once they are able, be more likely to consider delegating to others? I think so.
I hope you can see where this all might lead. It's almost frightening how close we are to making super heroes of us all. Perhaps that's too idealistic and naive, nevertheless, it represents for me, the greatest cause for hope I've ever known.
Anyone fancy a race to 10 million SP? ;)
With great Steem Power comes great responsibility.
Happy Steeming
