Steem How-To: Create, store and change a secure password

I use a password manager to store my passwords. Learn how to keep your money secure!

Tip: use a very long password. example This#is1a'great &%%Password
Write it down if you're not sure you can memorize it.

  • Save the file to a USB Stick
  • Add a new Entry

  • Give it a Title and Generate a 256 bit password

  • Click OK

  • Save

Head over to steemit/permissions

  • Search this symbol near your owner key and click it

  • Change the password to the one you created in KeePass - Right Click -> Copy Password

Rinse & Repeat for the active key.

  • Set an easier password for posting key

You're only ever logging in using your posting key password. It allows you to post and to vote.

If you want to send money, you open an incognito window in your browser (Chrome: CTRL+Shift+N) and login with your active key

Active key allows you to transfer.

NEVER TOUCH YOUR OWNER KEY. ONLY USE IT IN CASE ONE OF YOUR KEYS WAS COMPROMISED AND YOU NEED TO CHANGE PASSWORDS
