What Is Voting Power?

Voting power is one of the factors that affects the value of your upvote. You start out with 100% voting power, but it goes down each time you vote.

To help explain voting power better, let me take a quick detour to explain one other thing. After reaching 500 SP, you’ll get a voting slider on Steemit.com that lets you choose how big of an upvote you’d like to give a post, between 1% and 100%.

A 100% upvote will reduce your voting power by 2%, and voting power will recharge 20% per day. You might have noticed that the value you’re able to give a post with your upvote changes over time as you vote on more posts. This is because your voting power goes down with each vote!

I know I just threw around a bunch of new terms and numbers, so don’t worry if you don’t understand perfectly.😀

If you want to see the voting power for an account, you can check it on steemnow.com/@username. It’s also next to a lightning bolt in every DTube profile if you’d rather check there.

Let me know in the comments if you have any questions!
