Proof of Donation
I just want to thank all of you who helped us raise close to $2,000 for our friend Rei (whose house was burglarized in early January).
Tears welled up in his eyes when I handed him the envelope pictured in the photo above, and they stayed there for more than an hour as we talked about how Steemit works and about how so many of you fellow Steemians came together to help him, a complete stranger in need. Your compassion and your selflessness have been very moving!!
This post is to show you how the Steem and SBD raised through your votes and your posts were transferred to Rei.
1. 265.155 SBD was changed into .16325843 BTC using Blocktrades.
2. This BTC was then sent to a Kraken wallet.
3. The BTC was then sold for 204,238円 on Kraken.
4. After that, it was transferred to my bank account, withdrawn, and 204,000円 in cash was given to Rei.
5. Rei then took this money to an ATM and immediately deposited it into his own bank account. Since then he has used this money to cover the overhead costs of the event he sponsored the night before his house was burglarized (Most of the proceeds of which were lost in the burglary).
Additionally, I am still holding 10 SBD that was raised by @peppermint24, 32 SBD that was donated by @yoshiko, 7 SBD that was raised by @maxinpower, and 7 SBD that was raised right here by @steemcityniigata. The value of SBD plummeted before I was able to exchange these rewards for BTC and so I have been waiting to see if the value of SBD would correct upward again before exchanging it. Now that the value of SBD is back up over $5.00 again, I will most likely be exchanging these funds shortly.
When I have done so, I will make another Proof of Donation post like this one.
