Well, everyone had their own opinion and I have been trading a large range of cryptocurrencies the past few years.

One of the best sites that I watch daily is : - https://www.coingecko.com/en (it give a wider range of information)
It has different ratings for the best current 30 coins and Steem is currently 23rd / 650 and counting.
Its is rated by market cap, liquidity, developer, community (which is a huge factor) and public interest.
If you have a look it is 7th / 650 for the developerment section which is great news, it is no use have a great name, logo and idea but a poor development team as cryptocurrencies evolves weekly and will change our future.
There is also a graph for the latest seven days and will help you monitor your choices to invest and sell those coins that are dying or buy those that are thriving.

I believe that there is one thing that Steem has - is no competition right now and has a very unique concept and following.

Another link I also use daily is - http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/all/#BTC
As this give the whole list of current currencies - I find it best to have a greater overlook and if you click on a link below -
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/steem/#markets (it will give you more information - where Steem is traded and the social and chart information).

Look forward to your responses
