Our God is a loving God. He created every being for a purpose and as birds fly in the sky without touching one another so created He every being. Man as the main focus of this message, the loving God so made it exceptional that no other creature can actually occupy another's.
Deposit means a valuable item put in a place. God, having created man put in him a deposit of several gifts. These gifts are to showcase the love of God towards man.
Exodus 36:1-5. So Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled person1 in whom the LORD has put skill and ability to know how to do all the work for the service of the sanctuary are to do the work6 according to all that the LORD has commanded.” Moses summoned1 Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled person in whom the LORD had put skill – everyone whose heart stirred him to volunteer to do the work, and they received from Moses all the offerings the Israelites had brought to do the work for the service of the sanctuary, and they still continued to bring him a freewill offering each morning. So all the skilled people who were doing all the work on the sanctuary came from the work they were doing note and told Moses, “The people are bringing much more than is needed for the completion of the work which the LORD commanded us to do!”
It can vividly be discovered in this passage that the people were doing or bringing more than the required one because of their ability to discover the deposit of God in them.
NOTE: No one is unskillful, inability to discover the deposit renders it useless.
GOD's deposits are man's potential. Your ability to discover the deposit of God in you make it useful. For the purpose of man to be fulfilled, man has to understand his potential and not just only to understand but also to put it to walk.
1 Timothy 6:20 O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called "knowledge," (ESV)
It is very important to man proper use of God's gift that has been given to us as Christians. The optimum gift that God gave to us is Jesus. Jesus also did not leave without giving us a gift which is the Holy Spirit. This is the gift given to us this end time. This gift is a deposit, putting it to work is a way of manifesting in the spirit realm which glorifies the Father. It was the Spirit that man us believe He is and this believe show our potentials in Christ, manifestation of the Spirit makes us unveil more riches in Christ Jesus.
IMPORTANCE OF SPIRITUAL GIFTS
SOURCE
At first the gift of the spirit were give for the manifestation of the spirit and also to glorify God.
- Edifying of one another: One of the highest duties that a Christian has is to encourage others. In a world filled with pessimism, violence and despair, our need for encouragement is great. It is all too easy to let the "ways of the wicked" become our ways. The happy man is the one who refuses to "stand in the path of sinners" or "sit in the seat of the scornful". The gift was given for the edification of the body of Christ.
1 Thes 5:11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
2.) To impact the Church: Spiritual gifts are part of the very nature of God, given to us for Him to use to fulfill His purposes in our lives and on the earth. In his letter to the Ephesians, the Apostle Paul clearly explained the purpose of spiritual gifts. God gave spiritual gifts for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ
Eph 4:12-15 till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect [complete] man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleight [fraud] of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ
Therefore when the Holy Spirit is working strongly in a church to manifest God’s presence, one evidence will be a beautiful harmony in the church community and overflowing love for one another.
The scripture says ...there are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
It therefore important that as we begin to discover these deposits we also not divide the body.
