1 Samuel 16: 14-23
The Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit tormented him from Jehovah.
And the servants of Saul said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God torments thee.
Let our lord, therefore, say to your servants who are before you, to seek someone who knows how to play the harp, so that when the evil spirit comes on you from God, he will touch with his hand, and you will be relieved.
And Saul answered his servants: Seek me, then, now one who touches well, and bring it to me.
Then one of the servants answered, "Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem, who knows how to touch, and he is brave and strong and a man of war, wise in his words, and beautiful, and the Lord is with him.
And Saul sent messengers to Jesse, saying, Send me your son David, he who is with the sheep.
And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, a bowl of wine, and a kid, and sent him to Saul through David his son.
And David came to Saul, and stood before him; and he loved him very much, and made him his weapons page. And Saul sent and said to Jesse, I pray you, that David may be with me, for he has found favor in my eyes.
And when the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, David took the harp and played with his hand; and Saul was relieved and better, and the evil spirit departed from him.

Music is an undoubted expression of faith and, as if that were not enough, it is the only one of the fine arts that the Bible mentions in its writings. However, we must be careful, because there is another type of manifestation that borders on the dark.
The first element about the meaning and value of music in Christianity is in the pages of the Bible itself. The fact that there is a book called Psalms gives a more accurate idea of the musical importance in praising God. There are innumerable passages in the Bible in which music is mentioned as a manifestation of faith and adoration of the Lord.
The music existed from immemorial times, the Old Testament mentions it in several parts and there are indications that the men and women of antiquity
they made melodies. The music was made with a sacred purpose, to elevate the thoughts towards the pure, noble and elevating, to awaken in the soul the devotion and gratitude towards God.
The famous composer Juan Sebatian Bach said that "the main and final reason of all music should be the glory of God and refreshing for the spirit". "I will rejoice and rejoice in you, I will sing to your name, O Most High." Psalm 9: 2
We always try to find those things that can harm the herd. God, His Word, His servants, will seek those things that can help to straighten our lives every day. Sometimes, you will think: (let me speak something of my own heart as a person) "How the pastor can preach things like that, which at a given moment seem to be wise; At another time they seem a bit hard on hearts? "
My heart is saddened by the reaction that many times my own preachings cause; Most of the time, my heart rejoices. And although I know that the Word of God hurts, I do not regret it, because the Word of God is strong; It is hard.
I know that many times the scourge hurts, and it would perhaps be convenient, humanly speaking, not to hurt the sheep so hard, but you and I know that we need a strong push to do the right thing many times. We are not very docile. Not because we have a hard heart, but because we have a great influence weight behind us that constantly pushes us to evil.
And when I see my people that God has given me, the congregation; I see my family, my relatives, I see my own person; we try to find out what are the things that may be undermining the spiritual life; affecting the spiritual life.
There are fervent brothers in spirit, serving the Lord. They go out to testify, to win souls for Christ, they sing with all their heart; but suddenly, we look at them-if they allow me the expression-: "downcast", weird, with a look of sadness. In other cases, with rebellious attitudes, in other cases with absence among us. And I say: "What will he be stealing from those sisters, from those brothers, from those sheep; What is robbing the joy of the Lord? What is it that steals from me the disposition, the dedication, the encouragement, the enthusiasm? What is it that steals us many times the sincere fidelity to the Lord Jesus Christ ?! "And brother, believe me, it is sad to see how many brothers are discouraged; pray some, sometimes others; and we want to run and encourage one, and sometimes we achieve it, sometimes not. Sometimes we are finishing with one, and we have to run to encourage the other, and the other, and the other; and sometimes they are so many that we say: "Lord is your work, make it yourself; I can not!"

I am not preparing you here ... I know you will be saying, "The stones are coming hard." No, no! Simply that this week I felt very bad because brothers were hurt by the preaching; and I do not regret having preached, and if it is necessary, I will preach all my life.
But I want to tell you something that may be robbing you of your life of blessing. A very important element. You will not imagine what I am talking about. An element that may be robbing you of the disposition of your heart, fervor, love of God, compassion for lost souls. Something that could have gotten into your life and you have not noticed, and out of ignorance you are missing God. Something that robs our lives of devotion, sincerity, fidelity, brothers.
I want to talk about the importance of music. Not precisely in the church. We have good music in the church, we believe that, and we strive to do better every day. But the importance of music in our lives, in our people.
Music has been an Integral Part in the Life of Man.
When something important happens on earth it is accompanied by angels that denote choirs. God is the Creator of music. Hence, the music is so complete and so perfect, so elaborate and so complex. All humans bring music inside. Children listen to a little music and move. The parents want to share something with the child and we sing to him. We invented our own little song for children, right? Something we want to give expressively we say singing, right? Have you thought about the importance of music?
Now, there are some who sing very well, there are some who do not sing well. But that does not leave aside that in us there is not a feeling, a taste, an answer, an ability to respond to music. This world has become crazy around music, because man responds to musical notes; for good or bad, but man responds to music. Some more, others less, but we all have identification with music.
In Heaven there is Music.
God created music. The Bible says in Ezekiel 28:13 that God used music when he was creating Luzbel, who became the devil. Musical instruments were played when God was creating that wonderful, powerful, beautiful angel. And there the Bible mentions the instruments that were played there in heaven. That means that there are choir meetings in the sky. There are choral congregations.
One of the things that will be unbearable to witness, unless we have a transformed body, will be an angelic choir. Do not? Can you imagine in a meeting full of saints where a heavenly, angelic choir is singing praises to the Lord? Can you imagine that? One of the glorious things of heaven will be music, and God is pleased with music.
God and Music
God I believe Music
Did you know that God created music? It was not created by the Beatles. It was not created by the devil. It was not created by man. God created music. From very remote times we find the music related in the Scriptures.
Genesis 4:21 says:
And the man of his brother was Jubal, who was the father of all those who play harp and flute.
We are in Genesis chapter four. We're talking about when Cain killed Abel. We are talking about the very beginnings of God's creation to man. And one of the first things that God gave to man was feeling, knowledge, the use of music!
There we have a man named Jubal who was the father of all those who played flute and harp.
Through all the Scriptures we will find a God tremendously in love with music. We can even say that God is a musician, look! In heaven there will be celestial choirs. Heaven is heard in heaven.

The Music and the People of God.
We, consciously or unconsciously, are receiving influence through the music we listen to. Whether or not you accept it, you are going to be the quality of person, the quality of character, depending on the kind of music you hear. You will have the personality, depending in large part on the kind of music you are used to listening to. The Bible says that Saul was relieved, and the evil spirit departed from him when David touched. First he had relief, it seems that this spirit tormented his body. He was also better, his soul relaxed, and the evil spirit turned away from him. His spirit received blessing; he received benefit for music. We as Christians, brother, must be careful with the kind of music we are hearing. In 1 Thessalonians 5:23 it says:
And your whole being, spirit, soul and body be kept blameless
That is, anything that affects our body, our soul and our spirit we should pay attention and keep careful. And we should be careful of those things that are going to encourage our soul, our body and our spirit. Music, brothers, is created by God, used by God, pleasing to the ears of God. The believer must know, as a believer in Jesus Christ, that not only as a human being he will listen to music, but as a believer he will listen to music. And that music to which he will be exposed, must know the believer that will affect him, for good, or for evil.
With an ignorant intention, many have put the music of a song, a hymn, a Christian letter, and baptize it as a hymn; but it is not pleasing to the Lord, because God is worshiped with exclusivity! God did not come to ask for information or advice from the man to see what kind of music He would like; He created the music for himself. And he gave man a musical sense, and musical orientation, and musical wisdom to give glory to His name; and the devil, knowing that, has wanted to steal it. And he has stolen it, and he has taken it into the world, and it has given him a tremendous boom, a tremendous use to music in the world, which you already know. And we Christians are being affected too. In very few churches, good music is sung to God! The pulpits have already been removed to put a battery, tambourines have already been tolerated and things that only awaken are the carnal, sensual and rhythmic feelings of the person.
I do not have anything against the instruments. Every instrument can be used by God, as long as it meets the requirements of music that God likes, and there are definitely instruments that will never achieve it. Take a boat and kick him, will not get a single sound that pleases the Lord. And I mean boat, although they come very sophisticated, because a battery is nothing more than a boat that kicks, sticks. And all it has is rhythm. You have been in a symphony orchestra, surely; and back there are drums the size of the world, and some cymbals. Tell me, are you playing them all the time? Who would be in an auditorium of a symphony orchestra where all you hear is a "pum pum pum; pum pun pum pun "Do you think? We go crazy. From time to time, the rhythm of the tamborazo is heard over there, and the cymbals: "plaaaa ...", right? at the time, instead, at your level. Everything else is carried by violins, cello, string instruments, trumpets and everything else. Do you realize why the symphony achieves the quality of music you have? For the balance that music has. And the believers in Jesus Christ we must be careful with that.
Music in Our Church
Now, let's get to an important point. The music in our church. Music in the church must have a sense of worship. I believe that the people of God come together to hear the Word of God, to be edified in the Word of God, to contribute to the salvation of lost souls, and to worship. The people of God must worship. It is true that we should worship God anywhere, but if we do not do it in the church, less will they do it anywhere. One of the reasons why the early church met was to praise God. He says: "Praising God and having favor with all the people, and the Lord added to the church every day those who were to be saved."
Music in the Church is for Worship.
One of the primary purposes of the church when meeting is to worship God, praise God. With our praise many people are convinced of our truth. But brothers, the sense of adoration, the spirit of worship in the churches, has been greatly absent. Jesus Christ said: "The hour is coming, and now is when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth." And he says, and adds: "To such worshipers God seeks to be worshiped." To whom? To those who adore him in spirit and in truth. One of the reasons why we are gathered here is: to bear witness, to invoke, or to exalt the attributes of God in our music, in our songs.
Music has been the companion of the human being since the beginning of its history, nowadays the passion for the music of the human being has been revived even more by a series of technological innovations.
Christian music is very important because it is the way in which we express our gratitude to God, even if it seems boring I can assure you that it is not and that as young people it is important to know more about God.
Praise God because he is good, praise him with chants, with resounding cymbals, with trumpets, with horns with tambourine and dances.
